Galeem Baaf:

Introduction:

Galeem Baaf (Persian) whose Urdu translation is related to blanket making, blanket maker, warm cloth maker. And in August 1947, various families associated with this profession (blanket making) migrated from the city of Panipat in British India (Haryana, India) to the newly born country, Islamic Republic of Pakistan . These emigrants narrated the story of eternal sacrifices during the migration. Through Wagah Border Lahore After entering Pakistan, our forefathers (community Galeem Baaf) took up temporary residence in refugee camps in Pakistan. Since he was involved in the blanket making profession in British India, he used his old identity "Galeem Baaf" as his community name in Pakistan as well and started the same profession (blanket making) in Pakistan.As time passes, the majority of Galeem Baaf (known as blanket makers) settled in Jhang City and Sukkur. Some families in the community decided to stay in their homeland instead of migrating to the newborn country.

Panipat, Land of Ancestors:

It is a reflection of Gleem Baaf's illustrious past that in 1946, Haji Muhammad Bakhsh and Haji Fateh Muhammad were elected Municipal Commissioners, Municipal Committees, Panipat and carried out their duties diligently.

Migration, A difficult decision:

The partition of the subcontinent in August 1947 created a storm of pain and suffering unparalleled in recent world history. The situation in Punjab was particularly unpredictable where Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims lived together for centuries and spoke the same language but now Muslims were migrating towards Pakistan and Hindus and Sikhs towards India. But there was a thirst for each other's blood that was not quenched. They traveled in love and preferred the refugee camp in Pakistan over their property in India to embarrass the dream of establishing an Islamic state.
