Cancel Culture is the practice of opposing actions that are considered racist, misogynistic or homophobic through online shaming, boycott, or other types of protest, usually with the goal of Cancelling, which may take the form of firing a person from a company, TV series or other job, or removal of a monument, symbol or mascot considered offensive, or a change in name of a company, entertainment group, sports team, building or government facility. The practice increased dramatically during the George floyd protests of 2020.
