== Vasily Vasilyevich Markov (April 25, 1919-March 7, 1999) -Soviet pilot, captain, participant of the great Patriotic war, Hero of the Soviet Union (1944).

Biography Born on 25 April 1919, in the village of Grunin Volgol (other sources say that he was born in the village of Gubino) today Stanovlyansky district, Lipetsk region. Vasily Vasilyevich graduated from only 7 classes in the Moscow school of FZU in 1937. Then he worked as a Turner at the ‘’Kalibr’’ factory in Moscow. In the Soviet Army since December 1938.In 1940, he graduated from the Borisoglebsk military aviation school of pilots. Participant of The Great Patriotic War. From January 1943, to September 1944, he was assistant commander of the 116th fighter aviation regiment in the air rifle service, until May 1945-commander of the air squadron of the 148th fighter aviation regiment. V. V. was awarded the order of Lenin on 4 February 1944.He fought on the South-Western, North-Caucasian,3rd Ukrainian, 2nd Baltic and Leningrad fronts. During the war, he flew 369 fighter sorties, and personally shot down 29 enemy aircraft in 88 air battles. On February 4, 1944, senior Lieutenant Vasily Markov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for his courage and heroism in battle. In the same year Markov was awarded the military rank ’’captain’’. After the war, he continued to serve in combat units. In 1945, Markov he was retired with the rank of captain. He lived in the city of Pavlovsky Posad, Moscow region. He died on March 7 1999.He was buried in the old city cemetery in Pavlovsky Posad. In this city, a cast-iron, gray-painted bust of V.V Markov, which is set on a high pedestal, lined with marble. The pilot is depicted in an old age, dressed in a military uniform of a fighter, on the right side of the chest a gold star medal. Memorial inscription on the pedestal, "Hero of the Soviet Union". The year of installation of the pedestal is 1959.
