Hi, I'm Benedict :) I'm a translator, interpreter and educator in Germany. My contributions to Wikipedia have always been intermittent. The first minor edits I made were in 2003, with a long hiatus until 2007. The username VividImpression is relatively recent, when I started writing larger pieces.
My main reasons to contribute to Wikipedia are public, free information on the one hand, and the fight against misinformation on the other. Wikipedia is one of the main go-to information sources for a large part of the world population, so what information is on there, and what information is not, matters a lot.
In general, having an encyclopedia being very encompassing is a great thing, but I am against an inflation of articles. Not every minor topic needs its own article or a huge amount of text dedicated to it. Drowning people in useless information and wasting editors' time with editwars on obscure topics is just another way of misinformation.
The nature of Wikipedia as a community creating content by incremental change is one of its biggest strengths. Accuracy and relevance are the most important aspects of every article, so I welcome people re-editing my own work.
I'm on Twitter as @herzensruh and am happy to talk to anybody there (or here) who has a genuine interest in discussion.
