Wheelchair boxing is the art of is boxing by people with varying physical disabilities. It is these disabilities that prevent them from competing with able bodied boxers.
Disabilities will include spina bifida, birth defects, cerebral palsy, paralysis due to accident, amputations (of the legs, or other parts), and many other disabilities. There is no official governing body for wheelchair boxing though there is presently a strong emphasis on encouraging wheelchair boxing to provide the benefits that can be obtained through boxing as an activity and sport.
Many are looking for Wheelchairboxing to become recognised as part of the Paralympics. in turn recognising wheelchairboxing as a Paralympic sport.
