Dominik Hašek (born January 29, 1965) is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender. He has played for four teams in his 18-season National Hockey League career, winning two Stanley Cup championship, six Vezina Trophies as the league's top goaltender, two Hart Memorial Trophies as the most valuable player during the regular season, and one Olympic gold medal representing his native Czech Republic. Hašek was the first European-born starting goaltender to win the Stanley Cup, and helped to establish Europeans in a league dominated by North Americans. Considered an unorthodox goaltender, he has been known to "flop around" to make saves, using every part of his body, including his head. He is well known for his flexibility, and in one Mastercard commercial he was jokingly described as having "a Slinky for a spine." (more...)
