Wasi Haider was born on 2nd February 1958 in Karachi, Pakistan.He is a self taught artist. He has done 21 solo exhibitions since his first solo in 1989. He participated in more than 250 group exhibitions in Pakistan and abroad. His work kept in the measure countries of the world for show as USA, UK, Canada, Australia, India, UAE, Singapore, Nepal, Hong Kong etc. Wasi Haider, the master of pointillism, emerged from the Asian soil is a popular Pakistani artist. Inspired by feminine beauty he mostly paints the female faces and figure. However, he has worked in number of different mediums and focused on vast array of subjects. His portraits and figure work in paper collages were popular in his initial two decades. His most popular subjects are Calligraphy, Time and Space, Faces, Kamasutra, Figurative, Khajuraho, Portraits, Khatak, Vases and Poetic paintings. Wasi Haider works in oil and acrylic with the technique of pointillism too.In 2008 he gave a tribute to 25 “Legends of Pakistani Art”, which gave him fame in art lovers.
His paintings published as title on dozens of books and magazines. He prepared 1001 original dust covers for a novel “Jage hain khawab main” by Akhtar Raza Saleemi. These covers are a record work in the world which is never been done before. Wasi Haider belongs from a literary family. He also writes poetries and short stories. He wrote approx. hundred articles on painters with defining their work.
He had done thousands of Drawings and paintings yet and keep himself busy for only art and art. He did several live paintings as in Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad 2015, Karachi University 2016 and In Port Grand, Karachi 2016. Wasi Haider read his paper on “Art in literature” in 3rd literary conference by Pakistan Academy of Letters in Islamabad, 2017.He received “Quid e Azam Youth Award”. 1996. Parliament of Pakistan awarded a shield on his services in 2012. Karachi University presented shield, 2016.
