Armen Mandakunian (Armenian: Արմեն Մանդակունյան, Russian: Армен Мандакунян), was born on January 19, 1934, in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union. Still in early youth, his musical aptitudes were manifest and in May 1941, passing the significant entrance exams,he was admitted to the violin class of the Tchaikovsky Musical School in Yerevan.

Early life

edit

Armen's childhood was severe. It wasn't possible to dream of the violin anymore, it was necessary to survive. Yet under conditions of melancholy and sadness, when Eastern Europ and Russia were aflame in in the grip of war,on asorrowful fall day, like aheavenly favor, young Armen's first song was born. A quatrine of Hovhannes Tumanian, which mother had read for him, suddenly sprang from the lips of the child as a song.
