Daniel Cleveland (1838-1929) was a prominent American resident of early New Town San Diego (now Downtown San Diego) and an amateur field naturalist. He was a founding member of the San Diego Society of Natural History (and later, the San Diego Natural History Museum) and is credited with collecting type specimens of several southern California botanical species.
