Yeh Pulu Temple

Yeh Pulu is located near Goa Gajah temple. This Relief is located in Bedulu Village is precisely in the rice fields located 300 meters to the east of the Batulumbang Hamlet and approximately 26 km from Denpasar. this tourist attraction is located on the tourist route Denpasar-Tampaksiring-Kintamani which is around many historical places such as: Goa Gajah temple, Samuan Tiga, Pusering Jagat, Penataran Sasih, Kebo Edan and others. The monument was originally discovered by Punggawa Ubud in 1925, and was subsequently reresearched and published by the Dutch Colonial antiquities post led by Dr. W. F Sutterhiem in In 1929.

The name Yeh Pulu is derived from the words Yeh and Pulu that Yeh means water and Pulu means a Gentong where rice is in the middle of the axis of holy water which is west of Yeh Pulu relief cluster. Yeh Pulu Relief is made of stone padas chiseled on the rock wall with a length of 25 meters and a width of 2 meters. The overall way the theme of this story depicts the atmosphere of life in the forest as well as daily life in the ancient Balinese kingdom.Beside the classic Balinese sculptures, the monument also has a king’s niche with the first before namulguk to face Majapahit Empire’s Army in 1343 CE.

The Relief of Yeh Pulu is one of the many monuments of classical history of Bali in the 14th century Balikuno era (AD) that is full of knowledge that is still preserved and cuddly by the manners Subak, as one of the classical organization of Bali that specifically organizes irrigation and farmers. Also all things in the ordinance of working on rice fields in Bali.
