William Heise is a full-time writer that has a PhD in English from the University of Illinois at Urban-Champaign that he received in 1996. He's published a book on Edmund Spenser's Faerie Queene titled A Literal Reading of Spenser's Book of Holinesse, as well as a work of fiction called Poker Tales.
After going through school, he decided that the profession of academia wasn't for him. Although he went into business as what he calls an information entrepreneur, he continued to teach subjects as diverse as freshman composition, computers, and philosophy on a part-time basis as a way of giving back to the society that had given him such an excellent education.
