User:WilyD/William Case/Elias Pattie

Elias Pattie was a Methodist circuit rider.

Pattie's childhood and youth are not recorded. He was received on trial as an itinerant preacher in 1807 by the Methodists' New York Conference, and assigned to the Bay of Quinte Circuit.[1] In 1808 he was assigned to the Smith's Creek Circuit, and in 1809 to the Cornwall Circuit.[2] In 1810, he was assigned to the Augusta Circuit. During his year there, membership in the Methodist Church increased by forty-six people.[3] In 1811, Pattie was located. At the 1816 Genesee Conference, Pattie requested that he be restored as a circuit rider, and assigned to the Augusta Circuit. The conference refused his request.[4] He resumed circuit riding in 1836 through 1838, in Michigan.[5]
