John Tuke was a Methodist circuit rider.
Tuke was born in Ireland to Quaker parents. He moved to the United States as a child, where he converted to Methodism.[1]
In 1817, he was assigned to the Brome circuit in New York state.[1] The following year, he was assigned to the Hallowell circuit in Upper Canada.[2]
In 1819, he was assigned to the Belleville circuit. During the year, some indiscretions of his during his time on Hallowell were uncovered, and an enquiry suspended his preaching licence.[3] Franklin Metcalf was moved from the Hallowell circuit to fill the vacancy left by Tuke.[4]
