- Hi @Ronhjones:, Thanks for tagging the photo. I am sorry I posted the wrong image. I can't get at your ticket to see how you know it is the wrong person. Could you let me know, just so I don't repeat the mistake? Thanks. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 17:03, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
- From the direct descendants of the person - from my investigations, there are two "Florence Mary Anderson" both working in children's books area (Florence and Mary were very common names back then), one 1893–1972 and the other 1889-1945 - as far as I can see the former one (the article) uses her married name, the other one I think is her own (maiden) name - obviously the one in the article made a bad choice of husband's name! It's not something one could easily avoid, and fortunately does not happen that often. The OTRS poster did think they might be able to dig out an image - wait and see. Patience Torlowei - Smithsonian "I AM..." Exhibit artist
editHello, My name is Moji. I believe we met about 2 weeks ago at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art for the Press Preview of the I Am... exhibit. I came with one of the artists, Patience Torlowei. I stumbled upon the discussion thread surrounding the exhibit and noticed that there may be a slight struggle to get Patience Torlowei's page written. Is there anyway in which I can help by supplying information (with sources). Hoping to hear from you soon and best regards, Moji — Preceding unsigned comment added by EnebiA (talk • contribs) 02:20, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

Dictionary of New Zealand Biography
editHi Schwede66, Thanks for the tip on using a template for Dictionary of New Zealand Biography references. I use DNZB on almost every NZ article I work on. As you can see, I usually autofill using the URL of the entry. I can't understand how you created the reference that you updated on Mary Ann Müller. Where did you find the id number (id=1m59|)? If you would be so kind as to direct me to the template and instructions under this topic heading this page, I will use it from now on. I can easily find the reference again by checking this page. when I wind up back in a New Zealand article. Best, WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 20:41, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
- ps - you had pinged me on a different occasion regarding removing a stub tag prematurely. Could you provide me with any tips on determining when an article had passed from stub to start (without adding any scripts to my computer or browser? Thanks. WAU
- With regards to Mary Ann Müller (or any other DNZB entry), the ID is part of the dictionary URL: https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/1m59/muller-mary-anne
I don't know whether you use the visual editor but if you'd want to make use of the DNZB template, you need to use the traditional editor and paste the template in between ref tags. And then fill out the four or five fields (author first and last names, ID, bio title, access date).
- With regards to Mary Ann Müller (or any other DNZB entry), the ID is part of the dictionary URL: https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/1m59/muller-mary-anne
- With regards to stubs, the DYK rules of an article being "long enough" are the simplest and easiest. They say that beyond 1500 Bytes of prose it's no longer a stub (Lizzie Frost Rattray is currently 937 Bytes). But yes, it's a Javascript prose size tool that lets you determine what an article "readable prose size" is. That tool excludes all those things that don't count towards readable prose (e.g. direct quotes, bullet point lists, etc). If you don't want to learn how to install this I think I should be able to do that for you (it gets added to your skin). Once you've got it, you simply have an addition item 'Page size' in the menu on the left. Schwede66 00:32, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
- Schwede66 Thank you for your prompt and useful response! Lemme think about the Javascript. If I do decide to install it, I may attempt to add it myself. If that fails, I will ping you back. Thanks again. WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 00:54, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
- ps - I use the traditional editor, so the DNZB template is no problem. WAU

Replaceable fair use File:Portrait of Maria Thompson Daviess.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Portrait of Maria Thompson Daviess.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Animalparty! (talk) 23:26, 9 August 2019 (UTC)

Home Demonstration Clubs, and more about Women's Clubs
editHi, I just lost a slightly longer note. Hey, please check out new Home Demonstration Clubs, which can be greatly expanded from many available sources, and List of women's clubs, just moved from former focus on just their buildings. Not sure where in Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Redlist index I could suggest redlinks related to notable women of the Home Demonstration club programs, maybe as Social workers? Any help developing either of these would be appreciated. Ping User:Megalibrarygirl, who developed big template on women's club movement. cheers, --Doncram (talk) 19:13, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
- Ooh. Very cool, Doncram! Social workers is fine, and I think putting redlinks on the Clubwomen redlist would also be good, too. I'll be happy to help. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 20:53, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

- Ah, good... my notices are popping with edits by both of you, great! I have no idea how WomenArtistUpdates is finding articles that should have linked to the Home Demonstration Clubs article....
- In my lost note, written while i was at a location where the wifi kept disconnecting me, i was mentioning that the Home Demonstration Clubs, per Arkansas and/or Montana sources, were created with perhaps somewhat patronizing intent to "uplift" the presumably over-worked and/or down-trodden rural women, which is fine and good. But also in the clubs formed, the women took over and created local charitable efforts or addressed national issues, like supporting World War I, and apparently took on other organizing and educational efforts.

- Wow, very good MLG. :) I just read the entire article again and find it very enjoyable to read and learn from. Thank you both, again, for jumping in. --Doncram (talk) 18:01, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- No problem, Doncram and WomenArtistUpdates! I think there's a lot more to write about. I got sidetracked again, but hopefully can circle back around. We all made a good team! :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 18:07, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
- I did develop List of women's clubs some more. But okay, the truth is, i want to know more about Tomato clubs (currently a redlink; and/or the Tomato club movement?). My own tomato plantation, new this year, is doing poorly, I think due partly to nutrients or lack thereof, but also due to steady wind making them devote energy to stems. I am partly interested in potential nowadays, as an environmental/social/empowerment thing. Anyhow, it does seem interesting, social history-wise. The History of Tomato Clubs partly about how it was a first socializing step for many who seemed like they had never much gotten off the farm, The Girls' Tomato Club Movement, Girls’ Tomato Clubs in Mississippi, 1911-1915, Tomato Club to celebrate 100-year anniversary, Tomato clubs at NCpedia, CANNING TOMATOES, GROWING “BETTER AND MORE PERFECT WOMEN”. Maybe some of these sources are used in the Home Demo clubs article already, but there are more, too. I am sure this could be developed in a draft somewhere, maybe Draft:Tomato club movement and be a good DYK, say. I don't do DYKs much, myself, anymore, that could be done or not, but I'd like to see the topic developed in Wikipedia. --Doncram (talk) 23:19, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

Possible Wikinotable women artists
editHello! I see your username popup frequently with WIR. I just started an article on Diana Rivers. She seems to come from an old and influential family, with her grandfather and both of her great aunts already having Wikipedia pages (albeit short ones). I am wondering if her poet/writer mother, Elizabeth Larocque [1] aka Mrs. Schuyler Knowlton Smith and Mrs. Lewis Rutherfurd Stuyvesant or her artist grandmother Eleanor Duer Larocque might be wikinotable. Historic women artists are outside my field of expertise (STEM) and I had difficulty navigating potential sources. Do you have any thoughts? I was hoping to at least redlink them if they are indeed potentially notable. Thanks! Thsmi002 (talk) 17:51, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for the ping Thsmi002. I can't find enough information/references to pull together articles. It sure is a nice Beaton portrait of Elizabeth Larocque. Women Non-BPLs in the arts is what I focus on, so please fell free to contact me again. Alas, I won't be able to help out this time. Best, WomenArtistUpdates (talk) 20:30, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

ArbCom 2019 election voter message
editGoogle Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
editHello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!
