Hi —
For those who want to know, I've been a writer and editor forever. How long? Let's just say I started writing on a Smith-Corona manual typewriter, using yellow newsprint for rough drafts and erasable bond for final copy…and that was high-tech at the time (though that term didn't exist).
My first foray into computers was writing Fortran IV code to run on an IBM 360 mainframe. No “killer apps” had been invented yet, nor had the term “killer apps.”
I started using the Internet when it was still a text-only compendium of fairly esoteric content accessible only to those with the proper government or academic access. And server types were named after comic book characters, like archie and gopher. In some ways, hardly seems that long ago. In others, it does feel like forever.
