Sir Cromwell Lockhart 12th of Lee (1656-30 March 1696) was a scottish noble and politician.



Biography

Cromwell Lockhart was born in 1656 by parents William Lockhart of Lee and Robina Lockhart of Lee (nee. Swester) a granddaughter of MP. Robert Cromwell, the father of the famous english revolutionary Oliver Cromwell. Cromwell grew up in Scotland and was expected to be the next Lord of Lockhart after his fathers death.

Marrige & Issue

In 1679, Cromwell married the daughter of the british ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, Anne Harvey. They had no issue. Later in 1687, Cromwell married his first cousin, Martha Lockhart, the Lady Castlehill. He had no issues troughout both of his marriges.

Cromwell died on the 30th march of 1696, at age age of 40. As he didnt have any heirs, the titles and possesions passsed on his younger brother Sir Richard Lockhart XIII of Lee.

Cromwell is a descendant of the Cromwell family. His great-grandfather being Robert Cromwell and his 2nd great grandfather being Sir Henry Cromwell. Cromwell is also descendant from the Tudor family. His 3 time great-grandfather, Richard Williams Cromwells paternal grandmother was Joan Ferch Tudor, the daughter of Jasper Tudor the uncle of, Henry VII of England. The uncle of Richard Williams Cromwells was Thomas Cromwell, thus making Cromwell Lockhart a relative to the Earl of Essex
