Statement

edit

My focus on Wikipedia is editing articles relating to secular Jewish culture, especially the Jewish contributions to Broadway theatre and classical music. I also have an interest in history, especially European history, American history and Jewish history, and in various aspects of classical music, particularly Romantic period and 20th century music, as well as all opera in general.. I am a first-year music composition student at the University of California, Irvine who is likely going to double major in history. I am nineteen years old and of half-Toisanese and half-Ashkenazi origin.

To-do list

edit
  1. European (non-Yiddish/Hebrew) theatre
  2. Hebrew theatre
  3. Use citations from The Jew in Drama by M.J. Landa to write an Origins section to Theatre
Use information from that book to also expand the classical music and other theatre sections
  4. Film (there's obviously a lot to say!)
  5. Television
  6. Jews in popular and Jazz music (I think it could use a little more)
  7. Dance

אם אין אני לי, מי לי; וכשאני לעצמי, מה אני; ואם לא עכשיו, אימתיי

"If I am not for myself, who is for me? And if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" - Hillel the Elder, quoted in Mishnah Pirkei Avoth 1:14
