editAccording to BioScope "The Soldier's Courtship (1896) was originally a lost film, that has been discovered recently in Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and was to be premiered at the Pordenone silent film festival in October. This discovery of major importance, since the film is generally recognized as the first British fiction, or narrative film. However the film has never been entirely lost, nor is it (arguably) the first British fiction film.
