Yunru Shen

Yunru Shen finished a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A) degree in fashion at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a Bachelor of Design (B.D.) degree in fashion design from Raffles College of Design and Commerce (RCDC). While in school she showed her talents and passion as a fashion designer and artist. After she graduated from RCDC, she was offered a patternmaker job with KISMET+ (a Singapore Fashion Brand in Shanghai, China) and was responsible for creating design lines with patterns and making one-piece patterns for the studio.  Furthermore, she worked as an intern on a design team at Edun Americas Inc-LVMH in Manhattan, a fashion brand founded to promote fair trade in Africa. These experiences relate to her published works, such as Evolution of One-piece Draping and Geometric Patternmaking in American Fashion and Patternmaking Development in Twentieth Century American Look. In addition, she has nineteen years of fashion and art experience. She earned the Good Egg Award of Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas last year. She is a fashion instructor in Merchandising, Textiles and Design program at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff since 2014.
