Details about me are greatly exaggerated, repeatedly inconsistent, and generally impossible to confirm.
I'm a reader of Wikipedia more than an editor. I come here looking for general information — and sources for further reading — on hundreds of topics which interest me. When I invest my time editing an article, my primary and usual motivation is to improve the quality of the prose or the organization of its content, to help shape the article that would help me (as a reader) to quickly and easily find the information I seek.
In general, I believe articles here should be clear and understandable to readers with no previous knowledge of the subject; that's who I am writing to, when I change the previous text in articles. I have simple biases, including the belief that most events are best described in the same sequence as when they occurred, and that punctuation's primary purpose in nonfiction is to clarify and organize facts for easy comprehension by the reader. It should go without saying that the introductory section of every article must be comprehensible and clarifying to an utter layperson, while simply (and only!) summarizing the full article. I have never edited any article about which I have very strong or personal feelings. But please understand I am committed to the principles stated here, and to helping make Wikipedia a truly excellent reference.
I hope all of this is apparent to anyone looking closely at my edits. My heartfelt thanks to every editor who strives to make Wikipedia a reliable and unbiased source of information, and an enjoyable read, for regular folks who just want to learn more.
