County Subdivisions

I made those edits to those county templates because the Census Bureau recognizes these planning regions as county-equivalents as of last year (see here). Since the historic counties are no longer relevant in any capacity, I felt this change was warranted but I recognize others might feel differently.--Molandfreak (talk, contribs, email) 17:38, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

Thomas Peterffy

Do you happen to have any pictures of Thomas Peterffy that you would be willing and able to freely license? The infobox currently uses a drawing, but I would prefer to get a photograph if possible. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 00:47, 22 May 2023 (UTC)

As far as I know, this man is extremely private, and hardly ever shows his face at events or even in his company offices. I doubt a free photo will ever be found, unfortunately. ɱ (talk) 03:33, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
Alright. Figured it was worth a shot to check. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 03:24, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

ReferenceExpander

Just a friendly heads-up in case you weren't already aware, since it's installed on your common.js: Careless use of ReferenceExpander has caused serious problems. It's currently at MFD, and a large cleanup project is underway to repair the citations damaged by the script. I and several other users have !voted that the script be deleted or disabled, and I wouldn't recommend using it at all unless you thoroughly check every reference it modifies against the previous revision. If you're interested in a more detailed explanation of the script's issues, Folly Mox has provided an excellent summary at the MFD. — SamX [talk · contribs] 04:59, 1 June 2023 (UTC)

disambiguation of Engine House No. 5 etc. and Fire Station No. 5 etc.

I'm happy to see you created nice new articles for multiple fire stations in Columbus, Ohio. And I see you added several to disambiguation pages, e.g. Engine House No. 8 (Columbus, Ohio) added by you to Engine House No. 8 (and similar for Engine House No. 10). And I see you added the Columbus ones to Engine House (disambiguation).

I dunno if you know about List of fire stations; I just added all of these Columbus ones to List of fire stations#Ohio (please check my work). Note that "List of fire stations" includes in its "see also" section a series of disambiguation pages: Fire Station No. 1, Fire Station No. 2, etc., which I suppose I meant to be comprehensive, i.e. I must have meant for any places named "Engine House No. X" to be included on those. And those "Fire Station" ones do include many "Engine House" entries. Probably they included all of the Engine House ones that had articles at one time, but they don't yet include all the new Columbus, Ohio Engine House articles.

I don't recall what I was thinking, why I once apparently thought it good to develop "Engine House No. X" disambiguation pages and keep them separate from corresponding "Fire Station No. X" disambiguation pages. Especially if I was trying to list all the Engine House items in the Fire Station pages, too. Why not just redirect the Engine House ones to the Fire Station ones, and clarify that the pages are combos? I very dimly recall, perhaps there was some contention? But now, or again, it seems to me to make sense to merge them, leaving redirects from variations like "Engine House No. X".

Oh, maybe it was that, per my own writing at Engine House (disambiguation), that "An engine house is a building that holds engines, often stationary engines providing power, and sometimes is a fire station holding fire engines." However almost all entries there (with Cleveland Mine Engine House Number 3 being one exception) are fire stations / firehouses. I believe all the entries there (and on any "Engine House No. X" dab page) that are named "Engine House No. X" are in fact fire stations / firehouses; I do want to merge/redirect them. --Doncram (talk, contribs) 22:14, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

And that means I'd like to move (or for you to move) your Engine House No. 5 page to Engine House No. 5 (Columbus, Ohio) (over the redirect you set up) and redirect Engine House No. 5 to Fire Station No. 5. And move your Engine House No. 12 page to Engine House No. 12 (Columbus, Ohio) (over the redirect you set up) and redirect Engine House No. 12 to Fire Station No. 12.

Would those changes be okay by you?

[Technically one could say "Engine House No. 5" doesn't need disambiguation, because there's only one known notable one so far, but I would like for the non-disambiguated term to redirect to the combo disambiguation page "Fire Station No. 5", to keep everything parallel. Note, by the way, that Fire House No. 12 disambiguation already includes one called Engine Company 12, and one called Hose House No. 12 ... I think all the variations numbered 12 should be covered in one disambiguation page, with redirects from variations such as Engine House No. 12.]

Sorry to burden your Talk page with this long explication; maybe this should be at Talk:List of fire stations or somewhere else instead, with invitation to you to comment there.

cheers --Doncram (talk,contribs) 22:05, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi @Doncram: and thanks for your thoughts, and adding to List of fire stations. I don't mind the renamings - I did name some like Engine House No. 5 because there are no other articles for Engine Houses 5. But moving to a redirect will work, and will make the Columbus articles titled more consistently. ɱ (talk) 23:07, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
Thanks! I just made the two moves over redirects, which, it turned out, did not require admin help.
And I have merged/redirected Engine House No. 1 etc. to Fire Station No. 1 etc. and revamped the combo dab, for N=1 to 12 so far.
Again, thanks for developing the Columbus pages.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Engine House No. 8 Robinson.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Engine House No. 8 Robinson.jpg. Possible Contributions to Saints Peter and Paul Seminary

, you've been a great contributor to some of the articles I've started regarding historical Catholic structures in central OH. If you have any thoughts about what I currently have at Saints Peter and Paul Seminary, your input would be appreciated. Maximilian775 (talk) 20:49, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Hi Maximilian, this looks like a good article, I only have minor tweaks. I am caught up at the meantime with many huge projects anyhow... ɱ (talk) 16:51, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
