Reference improvements needed on Scope draft

edit

You have added some bare URLs at the end of your draft. Bare URLs are allowed, but it is a lot better if you can turn them into proper citations. The links to digitized scans of newspaper articles must be turned into citations giving the date, title of the article, name of the writer (if available), name of the newspaper, page number, and other bibliographical information that could be used to look up the article in a physical archive or at a different digital archive.

The other problem is that the references are not attached to the statements in the draft that the source supports. The principle of verifiability would be supported by adding proper footnotes. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:59, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I did some additional work on the Delpher citations.
Somewhere we should record our belief that Delpher content for newspapers before 1995 is okay to use:

I don't know how authoritative this site is, but it says "Furthermore, about half of the content made available via Delpher is still subject to copyright restrictions. Due to intensive negotiations with publishers and collective rights organizations, Delpher has, however, obtained permission to make newspapers entirely and freely available up to the year 1995, both in the Netherlands and in the rest of the world." - https://zenodo.org/record/3608550
That's a very unusual arrangement, but good for them for persuading the copyright holders that making the material available was overall beneficial rather than harmful.
Your articles are from 20 years earlier, so it turns out you *can* use them, but it's not as if *everything* on Delpher is free of copyright restrictions.

The Billboard FM Action chart you cited is not one of the charts we can use for criterion #2, but it does indicate that the album was placed on rotation at a number of stations, so generally pointing towards #11, though not exactly what #11 says. And using the word "featured" in that sentence is silly promotionalism. The album appeared on the list, it was not in any sense featured. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 22:32, 12 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
