September 2019: Wikipedia is not the place to post a CV
editPlease read the article WP:NOT to understand purposes for which Wikipedia should not be used. It is one thing to give a count of articles, chapters etc., but to enumerate all of them is somewhat ridiculous, especially for a general-knowledge encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not a place to preserve the endless details of a person's life. Its purpose is the advancement of human knowledge.--Quisqualis (talk) 17:56, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:Mayer B. Davidson has a new comment
editI have been looking at Draft:Mayer B. Davidson after seeing your commeht at the Teahouse where I often respond to questions. It looks to me as if Dr. Davidson is probably notable, but additional sources are needed to make this work in Wikipedia. There are also some formatting issues. I might be able to help with those. A complete list of the Doctor's publications, or even an incomplete but long list, would not belong, but a few of his most important papers might. But most important is things that others have written about him, others who are not connected with him. The American Diabetes Association article might be a start, but duller bibliographic info would be needed. Who were the authros? Enough info to find the paper in a library, or better, online, would be needed to use it.
I hope this is helpful to you. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 01:43, 19 October 2019 (UTC)
== DESiegel, thank you for your kind offer of help. I am a novice and value help from more experienced people.
In part because Dr. Davidson's career spans more than fifty years and began well before online publicity was possible, there are not as many articles and stories about him as there might be about notable people of younger ages. I included links to some of these, though I later learned they are better cited as footnotes rather than as in-line links.
I felt encouraged by one editor's comments that the notability standards are different for biomedical researchers. The editor stated that the subject's role as editor-in-chief of a major peer-reviewed medical journal (in this case, the American Diabetes Association's flagship journal, Diabetes Care) would make him notable, as would his having published peer-reviewed research articles that are widely cited. The editor mentioned that having one paper that had been cited at least 100 times was favorable and that it would be better if five such papers exist. Dr. Davidson's top-cited paper has been referenced 3912 times, and the fifth-most cited papers has been cited more than 900 times.
The editor's comments are part of a thread in the Teahouse that was archived. Please let me know if you would like its exact language; I have paraphrased it here.
Finally, I am not sure which American Diabetes Association article you would like to see. Dr. Davidson wrote a book that the organization published and has published quite a few articles in its various peer-reviewed journals. Please let me know which source you would like to see, and I will get it for you.
Again, many thanks for your offer of help and continued thanks to the other editors who have offered guidance.
Welcome

editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

AfC notification: Draft:Mayer B. Davidson has a new comment
editI've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, as follows:
Davidson is unquestionable notable as president of a major national society, and the draft should not have been declined on the basis of notability --it meets WP:PROF.
But this is a promotional draft; the promotional editor has properly declared, but has nonetheless written an unacceptable draft, better suited as a press release than an encycopedia article.
To make this acceptable:
- remove minor material: only books and peer-reviewed papers are worth mentioning, only editor-in--chief is significant, the accomplishments of his parents are irrelevant,
- The clinic and especially the company are much less signifcant than the research and professional positions, and need to be given less emphasis. Ifthis article was written because of the company, it was misconceived.
- The lead paragraph should have the highlights only
- The infobox needs to be written as an infobox, not lines of free text.
If this were not a paid article, Davisson is so important that I would do the necessary editing myself, since I tend to specialize here of articles on notable scientists. . But the contributor is getting paid to do this, and should do their job properly. I am not about to do work here as a volunteer for which someone else is being paid.
