Preston Sturges

edit

Hi. I have reverted an edit of yours on this article, and would like to remind you about WP:BRD. When your Bold edit has been Reverted by another editor, the recommended next step, if you continue to think the edit is necessary, is to Discuss the dispute on the article talk page with other editors, but not to re-revert it, which is the first step to edit warring, a disruptive activity which is not allowed. Discussion on the talk page is the only way we have of reaching consensus, which is central to resolving editing disputes in an amicable and collegial manner, which is why communicating your concerns to your fellow editors is essential. While the discussion is going on, the article generally should remain in the status quo ante until the consensus as to what to do is reached (see WP:STATUSQUO).   Hello, I'm JPxG. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Preston Sturges, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. jp×g 22:38, 11 June 2021 (UTC) Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

  You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Preston Sturges. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:42, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Do not continue to attempt to force your change into the article by repeatedly restoring it. This is called "edit-warring", and is a sure way to be blocked from editing. The only way to get you change into the article is to discuss it with other editors on the article talk page and get a consensus to do so. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:42, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia without adequate explanation, as you did at Preston Sturges, you may be blocked from editing. Denisarona (talk) 14:07, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Preston Sturges) for a period of 24 hours for edit-warring.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Acroterion (talk) 16:00, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

I responded to your message on my talk page, and have left a message for Acroterion regarding your block so that you can post to the article's talk page about the proposed edit. jp×g 22:16, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

The IP is not blocked from editing the talk page. They have always been able to do so, but they have refused to, instead choosing to post at you and my talk page. User talk pages are not where discussions take place about article disputes. If and when the IP chooses to post to the article talk page, I will respond to them, but I'm not going to respond all over Wikipedia. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:39, 12 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

  Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in W. W. Jacobs, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ----Rdp060707|talk 05:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
