happy new year

looking forward, a new diary has begun --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:13, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

today, I point at two singers I whose performance I enjoyed. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:57, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

today, less pointy: a composition from a remarkable 2022 concert, the sad record of four articles about people who recently died at the same time, and singing for Epiphany --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:28, 8 January 2023 (UTC)

pointy again: today's featured article is Osbert Parsley, not by me but Amitchell125 where I commented, including the beginning of my songs. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:13, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

my story today

For the first time I have no DYK on this day but remember a 2016 DYK, Hana Blažíková, a Czech who sang German music in Japan. Girls and women sang how Bach arranged Pergolesi's Stabat Mater to a new text paraphrasing Psalm 51, last Sunday. - I loved improving Mary Bauermeister - on the Main page until yesterday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:46, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

At least be open about it and mention my name and the fact that you're trying to cast doubt about a situation, when reliable sources are clear. Ferret was so kind to edit protect the article in question, since you don't follow consensus because you WP:DIDNTHEARTHAT. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 19:54, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
I tried to follow your indication, and so others, but it's clear you don't want the article to be touched because it goes against a biased and non-neutral narrative, it's clear you're biased on the subject. You are the one who wants a topic to be considered undisputable fact without any evidence. 151.68.70.136 (talk) 20:03, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
This IP is far past needing a block, so I may have to make some range blocks. Gregory Speck is almost certainly them as well. @Ohnoitsjamie:, I see you have a sock block on 151.34.0.0/16. Does the activity at Resident Evil 4's article look like the same person or unrelated? -- ferret (talk) 20:05, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
An IP block would be welcome at this point, since they keep repeating IDIDNTHEARTHAT ad nauseam. NOTHERE to help out but to sow doubt on a story. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 20:08, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Richmond, Indiana facility fire

On 30 April 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Richmond, Indiana facility fire, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that three years prior to last month's massive plastics fire in Indiana, a court determined that the site was a fire hazard "unsafe to people and property"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Richmond, Indiana facility fire. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Richmond, Indiana facility fire), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Administrators' newsletter – June 2023

News and updates for administrators from the past month (May 2023).

  Guideline and policy news

  • Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
  • As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.

  Technical news

  • Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.

  Arbitration

  • The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.

my story today
May I join? Good to see you together! Great music (in June, I'm behind: three great RMF concerts)! - Last Saturday, a friend played for us at her birthday party, on four instruments including baryton, with family (granddaughters!) and colleagues, from Renaissance to Haydn. - My story today is very personal: the DYK appeared on Wikipedia's 15th birthday, and describes a concert I sang. I was requested to translate the bio into German for a memorial concert ... - see background, and we talked about life and death. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
Fireworks on the Rhine pictured on 1 July, but the real stars were sun and moon. I love today's story especially. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
On today's Main page, you can find a cantata that Bach first performed 300 years ago, and an iconic saxophonist from East Germany. Also: your name is mentioned in an overview of QAI on my talk. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:19, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
While today's DYK highlights Santiago on his day, I did my modest share with my story today, describing what I just experienced, pictured. I began the article of the woman in green. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:55, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

In my most recent images (click on songs), two wedding cakes are hidden. - Today's story is about the Inkpot Madonna who returned to "her place" 9 years ago, and also has aspects of early learning, remember? -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:18, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Today is the anniversary of the premiere of Götterdämmerung. Berit Lindholm sang its final scene in concert at the Royal Festival Hall in London, only four years after her stage debut in a Mozart opera in Stockholm. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

Today is Debussy's birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:22, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

This too shall pass. - Ten years ago on 28 August, I heard a symphony, with a heavy heart because of the pending decision in WP:ARBINFOBOX, and not worried about my future here but Andy's. - It passed, and I could write the DYK about calling to dance, not battle, and Andy could write the DYK mentioning about peace and reconciliation, - look. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:54, 28 August 2023 (UTC)

WP:Bullying, and possibly WP:Sockpuppet

I believe User:Drmargi and User:SuperMarioMan are the same person due to both are making false claims and removing edits on Downton Abbey and The Baby-Sitters Club (1990 TV series). I believe this person goes between the accounts once they have ended up in an edit war and use their other account to try and intimidate other editors to get their way. They make false claims about the infobox, remove sourced information, such as past VHS releases because the source is Amazon. Eg. Both The Golden Girls and That '70s Show both infoboxes state when certain things accorded and both list the artist who performed the song and they are saying no infoboxes can do that per WP:MOS yet that obviously is not the case if other TV show pages do it. To me it appears to be biased editing and I think these users should be looked into to be sure they are not the same person cause neither are listening when it’s pointed out that what I have added is no different than what appears in other infoboxes and it cannot be just coincidence that two users don’t go look at other pages’ infoboxes see what I have pointed out to you and then continue to edit war with someone and then gang up and try to intimidate them to get their way. Decent people would go “Oh you’re right, I’m sorry.” leave the edit alone then go about their day. Please stop this so proper editing can be done. Thank you. 2601:806:8300:D0D0:CD6B:BFE0:532A:FD9D (talk) 18:18, 22 August 2023 (UTC)

I would like to say yeah, the amazon sources aren’t properly done but instead of just fixing them to where they have the <no-wiki> {{cite web}}: Empty citation (help)</no-wiki> or something they just false claimed it as WP:Amazon when there’s no other reliable source outside possibly eBay (which no one used on Wikipedia) to prove the existence of the VHSs releases. I’m not gonna lie but if they aren’t the same person, I will say I feel completely intimidated and bullied. I was trying to do no harm, just trying to improve page qualities and make them match other pages to be stalked between the two pages I edited on and ganged up on by two people.
Also, I would also like to add that I bought the entire series of The Baby-Sitters Club (1990 TV series) on Amazon digitally and have watched the episodes and their end credits and can vouch that each episode credits Emily Bindiger as the singer of the theme song and why I sourced them as the material source is a reliable source and why it’s being challenged and the artist being removed from the infobox is beyond me. 2601:806:8300:D0D0:CD6B:BFE0:532A:FD9D (talk) 18:33, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
