Hello! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. You are welcome to edit anonymously; however, creating an account is free and has several benefits (for example, the ability to create pages, upload media and edit without one's IP address being visible to the public).

No thanks. I prefer to stay as guest user. An account would lead to Wikipedia addiction. 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:09, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:Kanye West for general discussion of this or other topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See the talk page guidelines for more information. Thank you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:02, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand. I was literally referencing something someone else wrote and saying that I agree with them. That was totally on topic. Also others were also giving their own take on the issue too and wrote their opinions too. Why was my opinion, that was agreeing with someone else, removed? I was agreeing with the issue ... 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:05, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, sorry, I undid the revision before I saw this comment here, so my bad on that. New to Wikipedia. 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:06, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
A comment that adds absolutely nothing useful to the discussion other than just discussing you agree is seen as using Wikipedia as a forum. Your comment contributed nothing to the conversation. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:07, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
But then why was that other guy allowed to say everything I basically said? He got to voice that opinion but I was not? Why isn't his comment a forum comment? Also if people don't see that I agree won't they just think that other guy is voicing an unpopular opinion that nobody agrees with? By agreeing it shows support for his view? What else does a consensus mean? 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:11, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't see what you mean by that. I suggest you read WP:CONSENSUS since you don't know what it means as well as WP:NOTAFORUM. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:13, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
For example look at this comment:
"I totally agree with you there, his identification as a Nazi is clearly not (yet) a defining characteristic of his per WP:COPDEF. Throast Error in Template:Reply to: Username not given. me! (talk | contribs) 01:21, 11 December 2022 (UTC)"
Why was he allowed to say something like this but I am not? 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:14, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Are you going to read what I linked or not? If not then I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:18, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I skimmed it and I think I was within the rules. Please Don't get cross with me. I am trying to contribute and I just made a comment of agreeing. 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:20, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Take a look at the next comment I posted. Surely I am allowed to say at least this much?! 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:18, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Once again, Are you going to read what I linked or not?Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:20, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I did read it! What are you saying? 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please stop. If you continue to use talk pages for inappropriate discussion, as you did at Talk:Kanye West, you may be blocked from editing. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:19, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is nuts. I am literally saying what the other guy said. Y'all are just out to get me. I'm out. You guys post entire articles as though it is some sort of explanation, but then just silence every comment I say. I was totally on topic and was trying to support a view that was expressed. This is crazy. 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:22, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I want to file a complaint that I am being treated unfairly. Where can I do this? 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:24, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well so I filed a complaint at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Unfair treatment. . Feel free to chime in why are you targeting me like this. You are being totally unfair. 47.232.88.19 (talk) 16:38, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

some tips for a beginning editor

edit

Generally, it's best to use an account when you edit in controversial topic spaces, it makes it easier for other editors to keep track of who you are and therefore makes it less likely for us to knee-jerk revert you as unproductive. (Also, I don't recommend starting with the controversial articles. There's a lot of wierd nuances and protocol related to them that you won't be familiar with yet as a new editor. Like the fact that I technically need to show you the contentious topics template now, but that doesn't really work on an IP adress.) --Licks-rocks (talk) 19:00, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

(also to explain what caused the discussion above in non-wiki-addict alphabet soup language: Wikipedia doesn't work with a voting system, so how many people agree with you doesn't really matter in a discussion. What matters is the arguments. So comments that just say "I agree with X" don't really do anything ^_^.) --Licks-rocks (talk) 19:31, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Some advice!

edit

Hi, IP! First, if you are frustrated, I understand that, and I do think we could've handled the situation better and not be bite-y to you, so I'm sorry you had to endure that. I do, however, want to make some clarifications:

  • This edit–probably mistaken as WP:NOTFORUM, I believe it did not violate NOTFORUM at all.
  • This edit–probably violates NOTFORUM, unfortunately, though I'm kind of unsure.

Oh yeah, and one thing–whenever you start an ANI discussion, you always have to notify the reporting user on their talk page, and not ping them, because some editors have pings and notifications turned off, and the only way, in that case, is to notify them on their talk page! I understand that this is your first time opening an ANI discussion (on this IP, at least) and I believe the process was complicated for you, and it's totally fine! Just make sure to keep this in mind the next time you open an ANI discussion! See this AN ping discussion for further details.

If you need any other help, you can check out the welcome post at the top of the page for helpful links, or you can also follow the advice Licks-rocks gave you, and maybe even taking a look at NotForum. Happy editing! Tails Wx 21:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello

edit

I'm not here to inundate you with advice. There's been plenty of advice given. You've been welcomed so nothing needed from that standpoint. Obviously the creation of an account or not is your choice and I commend you for thinking about your own health in regards to possible addictions. If you do decide to ever create an account it would open up many opportunities for you to be mentored and learn the editing process where you can become more proficient in it. You would still be able to choose the frequency you edit just as you are now as an IP. There is never any pressure to edit. I go on days and weeks long breaks between editing all the time. Again, It's your choice but I wanted you to know that you are a welcomed addition to the community. --ARoseWolf 16:32, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
