68.134.39.97 noticing your edit, please note Rzeczpospolita. Is that what you mean? Lotje (talk) 10:37, 5 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes.
Originally used "Rzech Pospolita" means nothing.
The correct name should be: "Rzeczpospolita" or "Rzeczpospolita Polska". 68.134.39.97 (talk) 06:30, 6 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Historical articles use Kiev

edit

We do not use what Ukraine wants we use what is sourced in English history. Please do not change Kiev to Kyiv in historical articles. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 04:21, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Kyiv is in Ukraine, so Ukraine should have crucial influence here. They should be able to influence how their capital is called and how historical Ukrainian states are called.
Russia also has an origin in the Kyivan Rus, but is a side branch. All sources in literature are based on Russian claims and the usage of transcription from Russian language to English.
But we should stop doing that. Russians should be able to say how name Moscow is used, historical states based on Moscow or St. Petersburg. But Ukraine should be able to say how name Kyiv (Ukrainian capital) is used, and historical states including Kyivan Rus. 68.134.39.97 (talk) 06:35, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Britannica started recently using name Kyivan Rus:

It means nothing that it's in Ukraine. Many place names are different in English than they are in their native tongues. In historical books and sourcing etc it is almost always Kiev. In modern usage English has just recently started using more of Kyiv (though we pretty much pronounce it identically). Fyunck(click) (talk) 07:26, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree with Fyunck's comment above. 68.134.39.97 urgently needs to show a willingness to familiarise themselves with the rules of Wikipedia, as they keep on violating them in order to push their POV, and not listening to what other users are saying. This cannot go on like this. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 03:43, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

You have been warned multiple times and I think a block is imminent if you don't stop. Your soapboxing and continued attacks on Russia is trolling the topic Please stop. @Fyunck(click) -- why do you think that I am attacking Russia?
Wikipedia is encyclopedia which should rely on verifiable source. I gave examples proving that Russian sources are not good sources, because historians there are under state influence or they are willingly spreading false information for imperial Russian agenda (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vVEVa3-lZ4).
Even in the West, academia is affected since many Slavic departments are just Russian departments [British historian Norman Davies talks about that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4p1_TrXc_o0&t=1010s (min:sec 16:50 to 19:40); more in my comment About Russian influence on Western Universities and education].
Unfortunately, history is sensitive field. 68.134.39.97 (talk) 06:28, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

History itself is, sure. But under the section "Kyivan Rus', not Kievan Rus'", which is quite specific, all you are doing is soapboxing and trolling. You are supposed to be making clear and specific points that you want to change, not complaining about propaganda. This is not a blog or question and answer forum. For the most part we use English sources and they point to one thing. It doesn't matter if they have been influenced through the decades by either Russia or Ukraine. All that matters is what is used in English books, press, research papers, etc. If they all change then we change. I'll tell you right now so that there is no mystery... if I see one more trolling soapbox post I will warn again and bring it to ANI to be dealt with. Then it will be out of my hands and into the capable hands of multiple administrators. I can't be any clearer than that. It probably should have been done already but you had stopped posting so I let it lie. Fyunck(click) (talk) 07:34, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
