editLearn how this site works you fucking idiot, you don't use subsections all over the place and make the page look like shit. You're only making problems. 69.225.130.39 (talk) 16:23, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Specialist schools
editThe specialist schools programme has ended and school no longer get extra funding for a specialism. No school should have these categories added, but especially academies who have opted out of the scheme altogether... please dont add these categories to school articles. Bleaney (talk) 17:56, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- unclear request. Category:Arts Colleges in England is not entitled Category:Current Arts Colleges in England.--71.167.157.25 (talk) 19:48, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- It was a very bad creation of a category... if you asked most people in the UK about what are Arts Colleges? Would most of them think of a a short-lived schools programme or possibly further and higher education institutions which offer the arts? The specialist schools programme was so short-lived it hasnt made any impact long term on the history of these schools and the whole special school categories should be deleted. - Bleaney (talk) 19:56, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- then i suggest you make such a proposal through the Wikipedia:Categories for discussion module--71.167.157.25 (talk) 20:03, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hey man, lets roll back I dont want to fight, im just asking for a bit of logic to be applied... remember the specialist school programme has ended, so NO schools are part of the programme anymore, not one. Of course some schools sill choose to label themselves as specialist, but the huge majority of schools that were once part of the programme have dropped it. So all I want is these categories to reflect what these schools are now. Now of course history is important, so I suggest that if you think its so important to keep a reference to these schools formerly being a specialist school for posterity, then create Former Arts Colleges in... type categories... this would be consistent with what is done with former grammar schools (it would wrong to categorise former grammar schools as grammar schools wouldn't it?). What do you think? Bleaney (talk) 20:20, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- i'm not fighting you at all. my talk page is simply not the venue to discuss the merits/demerits of a category. i have merely been diffusing an extant category branch – Category:Arts Colleges in England – that already has descendant catogories (e.g., Category:Arts Colleges in West Sussex). i have not added any article to this category branch. again, i would direct you to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion module.71.167.157.25 (talk) 20:33, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
- But there is no needs, nothing is in dispute, the specialist schools programme is over. I'm done with this now. As I say, feel free to create former Arts Colleges in' etc if you feel the need... Bleaney (talk) 20:38, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry but your reasoning is very strange.... you seem to think that once added, a category can never be removed from an article? Even when that category is no longer appropriate or accurate? That is not what categories are meant to do i'm afraid. I don't have to ask permission to delete categories from articles when they are not needed, so please stop readding them as it can be seen as vandalism. If you feel my actions are wrong, contest the deletion of the category, OR on the articles talk page. But please do not edit war. Bleaney (talk) 20:10, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- i'm far from edit warring. wikipedia is an encyclopedia covering the entire history of a subject ...in this case the history of a school. was Huxlow Science College never a participant in the Science College program? regards.--71.167.157.25 (talk) 20:21, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
- It is mentioned in the article, so no need for an inaccurate category. But if you feel its important for it be mentioned in a category, feel free to create a Former Science Colleges in Northamptonshire category, and a category tree. As I have already mentioned, should a former grammar school still be categorised as a grammar school? - Bleaney (talk) 20:37, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
