As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:7deadlyconsulting, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=7deadlyconsulting|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 20:55, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I believe that I have done that, but I may need some extra support in learning if I did so correctly. I am a brand new Wikipedia user who is trying to learn how to use the program for professional development purposes. 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 16:24, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You say on my user page that "I am trying to support a colleague in getting set up with a wikipedia page." this means you have a clear conflict of interest and you need to make the necessary disclosure on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 01:40, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for this feedback, this not a co-worker this is a friend I know in the industry. I don't work for her company. We are professional acquaintances. 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 01:42, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
You STILL have a conflict of interest. Theroadislong (talk) 01:43, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that feedback. Just for my own clarification, this is still the case even if I am not being paid and I am just wanting to help a friend whose nonprofit I admire? 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 01:44, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Absolutely YES! Theroadislong (talk) 01:46, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much! I believe I just adjusted my page accordingly. 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 01:49, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, 7deadlyconsulting. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:Charlie Cart Project, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 01:52, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Your account has been blocked from editing because your username gives the impression that the account represents a group, club, organization, company, or website. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable, regardless of the username that you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid or compensated in any way, you must disclose who is paying you to edit here. You may also read our FAQ for article subjects.

Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change to this account.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Important items to note:

  • The new username that you choose must represent you as an individual person, and it must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • The new username you choose cannot already be taken and used by another account. You can search here to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns, "There is no global account for [username]", that means it is available.
  • Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Appeals: If your username does not represent a group, organization, website, or other entity described above, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page (this page): {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

Thank you. Cabayi (talk) 09:00, 19 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

requesting to take the word consulting out of my username to have it read just 7deadly as a I am not being compensated directly or indirectly for creating pages. I just want to create pages for nonprofits I admire. 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 03:54, 21 August 2024 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Please select a new username. You should not write about subjects you admire as it creates a conflict of interest. Your current username implies not so much admiration as paid advocacy. Thanks -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 08:20, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, please edit your request to remove the words "new username" and put your choice of username in their place. This makes the rename process easier. While a good new username is sufficient to get unblocked, you will need to formally declare your conflict of interest. You said you were editing about a "colleague" which suggests you and the colleague have the same employer; you don't need to be specifically paid to edit to be a paid editor. 331dot (talk) 08:24, 21 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

prevous username gave the impression I was being paid directly or indirectly. I am training on wikipedia for personal professional development purposes.

Decline reason:

You are here for the purpose of promoting your clients/colleague/friend/whatever. Even if we were to take your word for the fact that you are not doing so for pay, there is no place on Wikipedia for an editor who is here to promote. Nothing you have said suggests that you intend to do any other kind of editing. You were told that if you changed your username you could continue editing, but the nature of your comments during the block have made it clear that that is not an acceptable option, so it is withdrawn. Hi! There seems to be a problem with the formatting here. Would you like me to try and fix it for you? QwertyForest (talk) 11:30, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, please I would really appreciate that. I am still learning. 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 12:24, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have fixed the request. Unblock requests should not be indented and should not have the nowiki and code markup. You can look at the page history to see what I did. Since you should only have one unblock request at a time, I suggest that you merge the contents of this one into the other one. Best regards, QwertyForest (talk) 12:36, 28 August 2024 (UTC).Reply
Thank you I appreciate your help! 7deadlyconsulting (talk) 14:40, 28 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
