Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to SAT, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • Cluebot produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: SAT was changed by 82.132.139.83 (u) (t) deleting 11676 characters on 2010-01-11T19:20:34+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 19:20, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to Mephistopheles has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Ian.thomson (talk) 23:57, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am not the author who made that edit, but I decided to look at wikipedia policy. It says from the Lyrics and Poetry page,
"Quotations of the work within the analytical framework can fall into the fair use provisions within US copyright law (and to a lesser extent fair dealing and related concepts within other jurisdictions). However, how much of a song you can quote is open to interpretation, but you should avoid copyright paranoia."
I suggest you are exhibiting copyright paranoia and this warning is invalid.

Although you as an individual may not be the person that placed those lyrics on the page, as can be seen here, the lyrics were put in by someone from your IP address. Simply mentioning that Mephisopheles is mentioned in the song is enough, there is no need to include the lyrics. The lyrics were not being analyzed, they were just being put out there. As per the comment on your talk page, this is an ISP proxy address and I agree they didn't need to be there and they were right to be removed, as a quality of article issue, but the same could be said of a lot of things allowed under fair use, we only disagree on the point of it being copyright infringement. They are not in a song format and are not damaging Stings creative work, reputation or ability to profit, they are not in their original format, they are not liquidating his rights, don't see how it infringes copyright.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not include unsupported or inaccurate statements. Whenever you add possibly controversial statements about a living person to an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Juan Manuel Márquez, you must include proper sources. If you don't know how to cite a source, you may want to read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for guidelines. Thank you. GcSwRhIc (talk) 14:01, 23 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
