Links to Swiss should not go to Switzerland, because we do not link to current countries. I assume that in many cases, "Swiss" could just be removed altogether. What does Swiss mean for a cultural institution? Not a country. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:41, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: I've linked more to Swiss people or more specific topics such as Swiss citizenship where appropriate. I agree, often "Swiss" can just be unlinked. I've tried to limit linking to the country to cases where an organisation is based in Switzerland, where I do think it appropriate. I notice that another editor has (I imagine as a good-faith mistake) piped "Switzerland" to "Swiss" rather than the other way around, so in reversing that I may have inadvertently linked to Switzerland rather than make a better choice. This is apropos the RM at TalK:Swiss (disambiguation), as you may have guessed. 94.21.252.238 (talk) 21:46, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
- Fine, I just looked at 2 ;) - I still think that often, no link would be better than any, and sometimes no "Swiss" at all the best solution. I "lost" the last RM, - so am not in the mood for more. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:58, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: Yes, I've been unlinking or removing "Swiss", it's not helpful to link "a Swiss company based in Geneva". If there's a strong need, there's always the R Geneva, Switzerland. A bit like with date linking of years, it's often irrelevant what origin someone or something has. 94.21.252.238 (talk) 22:08, 16 May 2020 (UTC)
- Good, we seem to agree a lot ;) - Could you perhaps get a user name, then - lazy me - I could simply click thank-you for an edit a like? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:12, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
