edit

Hi 95.150.139.94! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Tyne–Wear derby several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Tyne–Wear derby, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:12, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi ToBeFree, Thanks for showing me this page, I was unaware this existed, do I just need to state my reasoning on the talk page or is there something else I need to do? 95.150.139.94 (talk) 18:18, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
No problem! Yup, that would be perfect, thank you very much. Ideally, your comment(s) there should point out why your preferred revision is more compliant with policies such as the verifiability policy, or with guidelines like the reliable sources guideline. For example, if you have taken your content from a citation in the article, and someone else has added content that doesn't match the cited source, you could point this out and ask the other editor to provide sources that directly support their favored content. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:25, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi ToBeFree, I have added my comment on the situation, hopefully I have done it correctly and would like to apologise if I have not done it correctly. Thanks 95.150.139.94 (talk) 18:34, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Editors are expected to treat each other with respect and civility. On this encyclopedia project, editors assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not appear to do at Tyne–Wear derby. Here is Wikipedia's welcome page, and it is hoped that you will assume the good faith of other editors and continue to help us improve Wikipedia! Thank you very much! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:13, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

(The most important part of this, when discussing things on article talk pages, is to avoid mentioning others' conduct. If you focus on the content, not on the editor adding it, your arguments gain more weight. If possible, ignore any off-topic attacks and keep strictly discussing the topic of the article. That's a pretty powerful way to deal with people who loudly yell yet lack actual arguments.) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:28, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi ToBeFree, Thanks for the tips, hopefully I won't need to use them if I make any future edits. Thanks 95.150.139.94 (talk) 18:39, 6 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
