Art competition medals were added without consensus

edit

It seems that Art competition medals were added without consensus. If you have any problems, ask User:Miria~01. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 09:08, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

It has long been a consensus that the Art competition medals are not recorded. Recently, since this year, the IOC has recorded the Art competition medals in its medal tables.
Since the change not only affects the medal tables, but also the respective nations and the respective years, around 100 articles would have to be changed. These changes should only be made after a discussion with consensus and then done systematically, otherwise a jumble of different statistics will arise. And I am not against a change either, but please discuss this here first WT:OLY to achieve a consensus. Miria~01 (talk) 09:35, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Miria~01: Show me the discussion where there was consensus against it. If the IOC recognizes the medals and includes them in the medal table it's literally a no brainer and no discussion would be necessary. Hey man im josh (talk) 10:43, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Of course it should be discussed as it effects over 100 articles:
(xxx = 1912, 1920, 1924, 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948)
-> in sum 103 articles (maybe a few more that I didn't consider)
And it is not the case that the IOC database is perfect, as many events are not displayed. Therefore, a discussion does not do any harm. Miria~01 (talk) 11:12, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Miria~01: So you don't have a discussion to point to with consensus to exclude IOC recognized medals? If not, I'll be adding the results that you've reverted back into medal tables. The number of articles to be updated could not matter less when considering whether to include the medals. It's contextually irrelevant and has no bearing on whether medals should be included or not. I agree. If the IOC lists them, there is no reason not to include. 95.164.122.136 (talk) 12:43, 15 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree if the IOC lists them as official then all medals of the 23 countries should be included and not only the United States ones while the other 22 countries aren't included. If IOC does not lists them as official then all of them should be removed. Either all are included or none, because we can not remain in the current situation with only the United States having its medals included and the other 22 countries not. All related articles need to be updated, including the all-time medal table. 95.164.122.136 (talk) 00:44, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
