They come from Cape Town, South Africa. The group was started by Kelly, thereby earning her the title as the leader. She is the groups choreographer as well. Juanita was the second member to join the group and then Kim. The trio claim that they are very down to Earth and do music for the people who can't. A.R.M.Y. How was LUMINUS formed?

The groups leader, Kelly, stated that she has a passion for music and that she wanted to do music full time one day. She said that the only problem she has, is that she has stage fright, which is ironic. So she decided to start a group. Initially she wanted five members, but could only get through to two participants, Juanita and Kim. The trio made their name known by performing at the high school they attended together. Kelly came up with a name and it stuck. Soon after, Crystal Clear Records approached them and offered to have them represent the company, which they accepted.
