- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

editWelcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Godot (game engine), it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Please also review Wikipedia's guidelines on user generated content. Reddit posts, Steam forum comments, and youtube videos are rarely reliable sources. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 20:11, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, that was my mistake. I attached a proper, reliable source, in line with the other sources used on the page. I am a Godot "power user" and I have noticed an exceptional amount of criticism around the logo, especially lately with Godot's boon in popularity, and thought it would be a relevant addition ABetterTomorrow101 (talk) 20:14, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hello. I have started a discussion for this on the article's talk page: Talk:Godot (game engine)#'Criticisms' section. Please also see WP:BRD and WP:OR. Please do not restore this content again without consensus, as that would be edit-warring. Thank you. Grayfell (talk) 20:27, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- I won't restore the content any more.
- However, I am confused about how to proceed. A large part of the Godot community (I wager ~30-40%) heavily criticize the logo, and Godot's leadership's is very reluctant to change it. I feel as if this is a major part of Godot's story. The only sources that back these up are: popular youtube videos, forum threads, and that one April Fools post. There aren't any news articles about it. I feel as though leaving out all criticisms of Godot does not paint a fair and neutral picture of it. ABetterTomorrow101 (talk) 20:35, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
- I sympathize. Sources are not optional. As I've been saying for months on the article's talk page, we need more and better sources. Godot is no different from any project of its size in that it has a range of opinions from both fans and detractors. It is not really up to us as editors to decide which opinions belong and which do not. On Wikipedia, the way to paint a fair and neutral picture of it is to cite sources according to due weight and with as little editorializing as possible. Grayfell (talk) 20:51, 30 October 2023 (UTC)
