- Please note that an article aboutPoint mutation already exists. Articles that serve the same purpose may be merged together or one may be deleted. Your current article Cell Mutation and DNA Replication: Point Mutation May be speedy deleted under section A1. Please add some content and context to keep this from being deleted. cheers (PS what is the name of your class page)--Guerillero | My Talk 04:07, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Cell Mutation and DNA Replication: Point Mutation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ttonyb (talk) 04:31, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
advice
editPlease excuse the rather curt and unhelpful form notice above--we are not quite as mechanical as it sounds. However, it is true that the page you started is probably not the way to do it. We already have an article Point mutation. It could use considerable expansion and referencing--it would be very much more helpful if you would add to it rather than start another. If you decide to do that, the most practical thing to do, is to ask for removal of the present empty page by placing at the top a line reading db-author : this page will be removed & you can work on the existing one.
Please check our page Wikipedia:School and university projects for some information on how to do such an assignment. I will be glad to assist further--just contact me on my user page or email me from the link there, which will work if you have set up email in your user preferences. I have both considerable experience as an Administrator here, and a PhD in molecular biology. DGG ( talk ) 06:51, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
- I have moved the empty article to User:AChemE12/sandbox where it will be much happier until it has some content. Please note that we already have an article on point mutation. Why can you not simply improve that article? If you do feel a new article is appropriate, do not put spurious capitals in the title, eg. point mutation in cell mutation and DNA replication rather than what you had. Your user name looks like the code for your course so I have blocked it under standard policy. Each student must create their own user account. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 12:58, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
