Why your article was deleted

edit

As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia only reports on things that are already established. Two of its key content policies are:

  • WP:Verifiability: "any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source."
  • WP:No original research: "If no reliable third-party sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article about it. If you discover something new, Wikipedia is not the place to premiere such a discovery."

The criterion used to decide whether a subject should be included is called notability and is not a matter of opinion but has to be demonstrated by showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject."

Your article said that Valerioism "was to inflame the entire establishment, not only through Art but through architecture, poetry, music and philosophy", and if true that would surely leave some trace on line, so before deciding to delete it I looked in Google, Google Books and Google Scholar:

Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

and found only a reference to accordian riffs.

If you can find reliable sources, by all means re-submit the article, citing them, but it seems that this is a neologism not yet well enough established for Wikipedia. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:58, 14 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
