Managing a conflict of interest

edit

Hello, AM13prime. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Specifically, do you have an external relationship with Gaétan de Rassenfosse? Virtually all your contributions are adding references to papers he's an author on. JaggedHamster (talk) 10:51, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

How to Declare a COI

edit

I think knowing de Rassenfosse is ambiguous as far as COIs go, but given how many of his works you add, it's worth adding a COI notice to protect him from any allegations of promoting his own work. Plus, it helps make sure that everything you're adding has encyclopedic value; I know I'd probably look favorably upon one of my advisor's or old professor's work, so declaring a COI is a good way of making sure that it appears in the most appropriate places.

The two ways I'd recommend are: 1) Make a user page, and add to it the template: {{Connected contributor|User1=Your username |U1-declared=yes| U1-otherlinks=(Optional) Insert relevant affiliations, disclosures, article drafts or diffs showing COI contributions.}} with your details filled in. This is a good general declaration. 2) I'd also state, in every edit request concerning de Rassenfosse, "I have a COI with de Rassenfosse. (See my userpage.)" Between those two, I can't imagine anyone would call you an undisclosed COI editor. They still may decline to include some of the references you provide, which is unfortunate, but you'd be doing everything right.

I hope this helps, and thanks for your additions to the price elasticity article! EducatedRedneck (talk) 17:10, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Eldorado (reper)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Eldorado (reper) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
