Watch for close paraphrasing

Hey Abbyson. I made some changes to your edit on the cheshire cat. By and large it was pretty good but I'd be careful as you try to summarize a single source on a subject like this as you can run up against close paraphrasing. This is not plagiarism per se and it's clear that you were making a concerted effort to avoid lifting phrases from the cited source, but sometimes it's difficult to do so (especially when summarizing facts) when using a single source. The easiest solution is often to try and find multiple sources and summarize the two, so we're not torn between following a source too closely or making claims that can't be supported by that source. Either way it's not a big problem but I felt you should know why I made the changes I did. Protonk (talk) 18:41, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
