editNice to see someone writing about the geology of my home turf. :) Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
It isn't terribly active, but we have a T & T WikiProject, if that might interest you. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:54, 19 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi Ian! I was wondering if I found an image on Wikicommons if I am able to make edits to it and upload it?Abmax05 (talk) 15:32, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. Or almost certainly yes. Check the licensing on the image. Older files are licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows you to "copy, distribute and/or modify" the files. Newer ones are distributed under the Creative Commons 3.0 share alike license which allows to you "to share – to copy, distribute and transmit the work" and "to remix – to adapt the work". You are, in these cases, required to link to the original file that you've modified and give credit to the original creator. And if it is in the public domain (older works whose copyright has expired, or US government work) you're free to do whatever you like with them. But it's still good practice to link to the original work. This makes it clear to people on Commons if they check to see if your uploads are legit. Make sure you tag your re-upload with an appropriate free license as well. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:49, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Location Map of the Columbus Basin, Trinidad.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Location Map of the Columbus Basin, Trinidad.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
