Dude, I'm trying here. I'm not a Wikipedia master. I'm trying to learn and you're making that difficult.

I disagree that the page met the speedy deletion requirements. I'd like to have a discussion around what you think were the problems. Telling me it "unquestionably met" at least two requirements doesn't tell me WHICH requirements. Would you please do me a favor, lose the combative attitude and try and be helpful?

Also, I don't know how to undelete a page. There doesn't appear to be any button to do that. And I assume that even if I do, you or another administrator will delete the page until you walk me through what the issues are.

I understand that the hangon request isn't binding, but don't you think you should give someone some time to understand what the issues are and how to address them? Deleting items summarily doesn't help people understand how to participate in this community. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ctwise (talkcontribs) 21:30, 12 August 2010‎

The camel's back just broke

edit

Congratulations! Your belief that you're entitled to the personal attention of anyone here to the extent that you yourself determine, to take you by the hand and lead you through material that you ignore unless it suits you, in order for you to contribute spam about some company that's probably paying you for the privilege of your useless attentions, is the straw that broke my back. (Considering that your first efforts here were some months before mine, you must be incredibly stupid not to have read any of the instructions that you've been given over the years OR to have been unable to click on the links you're provided to get the answers you claim you didn't get.) I'm not sure if it's the endless onslaught of crap that never stops falling, the incredible rudeness and ill-will that I constantly encounter here, or the egotistical sense of entitlement that you have so clearly exemplified for me, but whatever it is, I'm giving it up.

No messages left here will be read, let alone responded to. In the last few minutes of my tenure here, I'm scrambling my password. If I ever want to contribute to the kernel of utility that is buried underneath the shovelfuls of crap constantly being added by illiterates, which is highly unlikely, I'll do so under another name. Goodbye and good luck. Accounting4Taste:talk 16:26, 13 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Andrew Stone

edit

Hi, I know your page says you have retired or whatever, but I'm not really interested in your dramatic exit - I am just writing about an unusual edit you have made to the page Andrew Stone. This is a disambiguation page, and I have added a link to the page Andrew Stone (Pineapple Dance Studios), which is an article on Wikipedia, which has passed a speedy deletion request and so confirmed by administrator as a valid article. You undid my edit, and reverted the disambiguation article back to the previous version. This is quite odd and I'm not sure why you did that, but I am just letting you know that the link needs to be there as it is a valid page with the name Andrew Stone, so I am undoing your revert. Feel free to get back to me. IainUK (talk) 09:25, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Survey on gender

edit

Hi! I'm Liria Veronesi (User:Akoha77) and, together with Paolo Massa (User:Phauly), I'm starting an empirical research on "Gender and votes in requests for adminship". For this reason, we need to know the gender of Wikipedians who were candidated to become admins.

We tried looking for the templates User:UBX/male and User:UBX/female but only 4 admins use it. We also used the API for getting the gender field in the profile but, out of 1744 admins, only around 400 have filled this field. But we would benefit from a larger coverage, i.e. possibly knowing the gender of 100% of candidates.

So, after asking for advice to 3 admins and receiving 2 positive replies (1 and 2), we decided to try to ask directly to Wikipedians.

Thus, would you be so kind to write your gender [Male / Female / Other], together with a text comment if you want, on my talk page at User_talk:Akoha77? If you prefer to send me this information privately, you can send me an email, the information will be kept confidential and never shared.

Thanks! Akoha77 (talk) 12:49, 31 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please if you have time and you know anything to it (I have seen that you have made edits in the article area which owns relations on it) , please look on the article Audio theatre, somebody placed a erase discussion on it. after we have had a merge discussion. It would be interesting what you would say to the merge and the delete discussion. Proposed deletion of Scott Ciment

edit

The article Scott Ciment has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Long term orphan article. Notability appears to me to be marginal, at best. Article subject apparently wants it gone. Add these together, and I see no reason to not do as the subject wishes and remove it.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

edit

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

Notice of change

edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Calvia Quiz League

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Calvia Quiz League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
