Trying to use visual editing

I worked several hours editing my new submission, David Adams (Peace Activist) in visual editing, but could not return to source editing so I lost all the corrections.

since then, I publish the submission each time I do some visual editing. In that way I don't lost the corrections and I can return to source editing.

However, I continue to work on the submission . . .

I'm sure there's a better way, but I couldn't find it and it's frustrating to lose lots of work!  :-(((

Guidelines when you are the subject of coverage in Wikipedia

I am note sure if anyone has pointed you to the guideline Wikipedia:Autobiography. You should read it. I have agreed that David Adams (peace activist) is a notable subject worthy for inclusion on Wikipedia, but the original version has many failings warned of by Wikipedia:Autobiography, and significant problems remain. The solution is to revamp the article based on third party sources. I have found some, but could use help.

It is important that you do not edit articles intimately connected to yourself. Instead, you should make suggestions on their talk pages, and hope that someone notices. If there is a problem of importance, try the {{help me}} tag. Or write on the talk page of editors who in the past have edited the article, such as myself.

Hi. I think you had not grasped the meaning of WP:Third party sources. It is not a big deal, we have some, and it is not shame on a person for not being a publicity tart. With a view to improving the article David Adams (peace activist), can I ask: Have any of David Adams' efforts at UNESCO or Culture of Peace been any good? Any postive outcomes? Any negative outcomes or lessons learned? As published, assessed by independent outsides? Independent journalists or scholars.

The Culture of Peace News Network is not an independent source since I coordinate it, but over the years it contains thousands of articles about the culture of peace. No doubt they are outcomes of the work at UNESCO and the United Nations. CPNN does not talk much about me - just a brief mention on the page "about" - since, as you put it, I am not a publicity tart. Funny thing, when I was a laboratory scientist and publishing scientific articles, it was the rule that one should mention the names of all others working in the field and should evaluate, at least indirectly, the importance of their work. But when I went to the UN, all that changed. Names are not mentioned. At the UN you don't have the right to publish under your name without the express consent of the Secretary-General or Director-General. And the hundreds of UNESCO memos about the culture of peace in which my role is mentioned are considered as internal documents that cannot be put into the public domain. Only the Director-General's remarks (usually written by one of us in the organization) and the official decisions of the Executive Board and General Conference (again written by one of us and I wrote many) can be published, and they would never cite the name of someone working in the organization.Adams1peace (talk) 15:39, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Apart from offering any published third party commentary, the best thing you could do is to edit other articles. The photo was taken at a meeting called “The Power of Youth to Promote the Culture of Peace”, that was held at the International Social Justice Commission — Salvation Army, 221 East 52nd St. NYC. on Friday 29 October 2010. I've written to a number of people who were there to try to learn who took the photo, and to ask that person if he/she will license the photo for reuse by anyone for any purpose. My apologies, I promised to help on the Culture of Peace page, and I'll try to focus on it from time to time in the next two weeks. The trick is to create a mental map of the subject, and I haven't been willing to take the time to create enough of one that the topic makes sense enough to me to work with and on a word flow describing it. The page does read like an essay, with too many quotes, so that will have to change somewhat (some quotes are fine, in context, and this page is creating quite a context). Please look at the "lead" I edited in and check it for accuracy, thanks. Much of the important information is in there, although a mention of a couple of the programs should be mentioned and briefly described. And I may ask a few questions along the way to understand the subject. Again, no promises, and if anyone else wants to edit the page as well that would be great. A few editors bettering the page should work it out well enough to add to Wikipedia's collection. Now that I've had a chance to look carefully at your edit, I am very pleased with it. I have made only two minor changes. I clarify in the first line that the negotiations were in the context of preparations for the International Year for the Culture of Peace (negotiations in 1998/99 and the IYCP in 2000). And I have used a much more accurate and detailed footnote to explain the difficulties in the negotiations. I especially appreciate the additions you made, which show that you have done your own research on the topic: 1) the paragraph beginning "As explained by UNESCO" which comes from UN document A/55/377; 2) the UNESCO work for culture of peace at the present time in Africa, which you took from CPNN; and 3) the text about CPNN which refers to the web page of Dot Maver (Kosmos). I understand the cuts that you made, apparently to reduce reliance on my own published history of the culture of peace. But since that history is listed as an external link, the reader can find all of this information. And I agree with cutting out the points of the Declaration. Hi, and thanks. No, lots of work to do before the page is ready for "the show", I'm traveling this week but will spend time with the page, and hopefully others will work on it. The points of the declaration are probably important to the page. Some questions, is the overall concept 'Culture of Peace' an ongoing type of civilizational change that the UN is recommending, and not just a one-or-two time event? If so then that should be clarified and accented up-front. Is the culture-shift still ongoing and will it be worked on in the future? Still have to create a fuller mental map of the concept and the intention of the initiators and authors, and describe it in a short but full description of the hopes that you and others put into it. As you have seen, the culture of peace is opposed by the USA and EU and their allies, so its future in the UN, as presently constituted, is not bright. On the other hand, the prestigious International Peace Bureau (this year joined by Mikhail Gorbachev) continues to nominate the culture of peace for a Nobel Peace Prize, which would make a big difference. Unfortunately, as far as I can see, their nomination letter has not been made public. By the way, it was the Nobel Peace Prize that put human rights "on the map". Is the Culture of Peace (is it a proper name for upper-casing?) adopted by the General Assembly, did the US and EU oppose it there or veto it in the Security Council if it got that far (these questions may be answered on the page, but asking for my own clarity)? As far as I know, Ambassador Chowdhury, in good diplomatic fashion, has never publicly stated how he managed to get it passed. One can only suppose that he told the Great Powers, "I have the votes, and if you insist on a vote, it will only show you as a minority against peace." With regard to the IPB, I'll follow your suggestion and ask them if their letter can be made public. With regard to work on other pages, I plan to work on the Seville Statement on Violence, but await the results of the Culture of Peace entry before undertaking it. Missed your May note, and have done some more editing just now (removed empty sections, edits for encyclopedic language and style). I think the page is understandable and encyclopedic enough now to be published, and you should either just put it up now or go through the approval process again. Maybe ask the same reviewer to look at it again? Is it possible to reference both online and published versions of books?

The list of books on this site does not include references for the reader to go to the books.

All of the books exist in both online and published versions. Is it possible to provide references to both, or do I have to chose one or the other?
