File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Surflight.gif
editThanks for uploading File:Surflight.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 13:52, 16 May 2011 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 13:52, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
License tagging for File:Surflight Theatre.gif
editThanks for uploading File:Surflight Theatre.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 16:07, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:RoyMiller.jpg
editA tag has been placed on File:RoyMiller.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File copyright problem with File:RoyMiller.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:RoyMiller.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 23:54, 2 July 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Showplace Ice Cream Parlour requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

Removing Speedy at Showplace Ice Cream Parlour
editWelcome to Wikipedia, thank you for taking the time to create a page here. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you created yourself. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the deletion tag you removed from Showplace Ice Cream Parlour. Please do not continue to remove the deletion tag, instead, if you disagree with the deletion, you can follow these steps:
- Go to the page by clicking this link. Once there, select the button that says Click here to contest this speedy deletion.
- This will take you to the talk page, where you can make your case by explaining why the page does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion.
Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. For further help about the deletion, you could contact the user who first placed the tag or a highly active user who is willingly to help with deletion. This message was left by a bot, so please do not contact the bot about the deletion. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 03:18, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Roy Miller (producer)
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Roy Miller (producer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Request reason:
I was blocked (and the Surflight Theatre page I was editing was deleted) because I tried to make some improvements to a page for a non-profit company for whom I do marketing (as a volunteer, by the way). I was unaware of the rule that states that people who work for companies cannot edit their own pages. I was just trying to make the sentence flow better and fix some other errors on the page. Since I am a volunteer there, I felt like I was more familiar with some of the statements on the site and felt like they should be corrected. I was not trying to make changes in a way that market the company. It is a landmark theatre in a resort town. It has been there for 62 years and is something that is of interest to many tourists and residents alike. The page existed before I ever came along and I would hate for this struggling non-profit theatre to suffer because of my actions. I was just trying to help them. The rule says that an assumption of innocense should be made, but instead I was immediately banned with no opportunity for discussion. I have since learned from my error and would greatly appreciate being reinstated and the page being put back online. I will go to the forums in the future and ask others to help modify pages if something I am affilated with needs correcting. Thank you. Adelmang (talk) 22:21, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Accept reason:
see notes below. Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:30, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
I am prepared to agree some good faith on this. The Surflight Theatre article was appalling spam before you ever made an edit to it, so you certainly didn't make the situation any worse. And it had been in existence for some years, so a naive editor might reasonably think it was an OK pattern for other articles. It wasn't, unfortunately. I can't put the article back up, because it was truly awful and would need a complete rewrite to meet Wikipedia policies. You can have a go at writing a better one - click this link and start typing User:Adelmang/Sandbox. Make sure you include references to significant coverage in secondary sources about the theatre itself - not just reviews of the productions - to prove that the theatre is notable under Wikipedia rules - read WP:GNG for more information. St. George's Hall, London is a good little article about a notable theatre. Elen of the Roads (talk) 23:30, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! I had also added pages for a well-known singing ice cream parlour that is next door to the theatre and a successful Broadway producer who is donating his services and trying to bring the theatre out of bankruptcy. I thought these were noteworthy topics, but I realize now they might have not been set up appropriately. But all three pages were deleted unilaterally when I was blocked. Are they ok to reattempt in the sandbox? The producer is on IMDB and other places. Also, does it matter that the sandbox address you provided above is not the same as my username?Adelmang (talk) 00:38, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- First, I fixed my bad spelling above :) Second, read up on our policy on reliable sources WP:RS. IMDB is always considered a bit of a dubious source, because some of the content is generated by fans. What you need for the ice cream place is some reviews of it in good sources - not just your local paper. If the producer doesn't have an article and is famous, you can certainly write one, but look at the artices for other producers to see how to structure it. Keep thinking "encyclopaedia article" - so a bit formal, bit on the dry side, no 'talking to camera' etc. If you need more sandboxes, you can make your own et User:Adelmang/Sandbox Two etc. Just create the redlink, and click on it.
