The page for Harry Leslie Smith has been vandalised again. A scan of Harry's Leslie Smith's British passport was sent to beeblebox. Harry Leslie Smith who is my father is a British writer and all of his books deal with Britain. All attempts to dilute his nationality is not done for scholarly reasons but vandalism and to create fake news. It must stop. Rgds,

This appears to be a content dispute, rather than vandalism. Have you bothered to discuss the concern at the talk page of that article? --joe deckertalk 02:26, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
No, because "coincidentally" this issue arose at the moment that there is a crucial General Election in Great Britain that will finish on June 8th. My father is intimately involved with one of the political parties involved and on a national speaking tour. So I am not willing to bring this out into an open forum because I suspect the motivation of these edits. My father's nationality should not be in question for one as I provided a scan of his UK passport. He was born there in 1923 served in the RAF from 1941-1948 emigrated to Canada to work for a British firm and then for over 20 years resides for an equal amount of time in both countries owing to the fact that some of his children were raised in Canada. Moreover, all his writing deals exclusively with the UK except for the odd speaking engagement in North America where the discussion is about his life in Great Depression Britain. Yet this person began their edits several days ago by removing his British nationality and make him a Canadian. So I am dubious of the sincerity of the the person doing these edits Rgds, Adelt1963 (talk) 02:45, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also is it possible that the person doing these edits is this person

https://wikispooks.com/wiki/Cameron_Scott because oddly enough this person is extremely opposed to the candidate my father has endorsed?

Why hasn't the above matter been dealt with? Adelt1963 (talk) 11:00, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
If the user you've listed has a conflict of interest, they should not be editing that article at all. I've sent the information on to the Arbitration Committee. I've also removed it, temporarily, until other editors can come to a consensus on how to treat your father's nationality in the article.--v/r - TP 14:50, 9 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

This is all bollocks - I'm a semi-retired editor who basically edits what they fancied - I've been editing for nearly ten years, if someone can find a pattern of political editing in my edits, I'd love to see it. --Cameron Scott (talk) 07:22, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

AH.... I see the problem... it's the Cameron Scott name - notice earlier in my history that I edit comic articles? Cameron Scott is one of the secret identities for Captain Atom. --Cameron Scott (talk) 07:26, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you are indeed Cameron Scott of the Labour Party then there is indeed a conflict of interest and it is very apparentAdelt1963 (talk) 10:30, 10 May 2017 (UTC) .Reply

I'm not Cameron Scott of the labour party - like many Wikipedia editors I use an alias - when I joined in 2008 i took the name Cameron Scott because it is cilivian name of the fiction character Captain Atom. I'm not sure how much you know about how Wikipedia works but if you check my edit history - I've been here for a decade and I edit across a wide spectrum of areas. --Cameron Scott (talk) 10:39, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Fine-but your scholarship on this article has not been good because my father is not a Canadian writer but a British one by factors of nationality, subject and also residence. As you think not I would suggest you start changing Nicole Kindman's page as she is described as an Australian actress despite the fact she is a US resident and primarily works on Hollywood financed films, the same goes for David Niven and Audrey Hepburn. Moreover, I would also suggest you change Bob Hope from an American Comedian to a British American comedian considering he was born in the UK. The list of examples like this are endless on wikipedia and you are making a scholarly decision based on either prejudice or ignorance. And again in the orginal article there was no attempt to conceal that Harry Leslie Smith did emigrate to Canada nor to conceal that for many decades since his retirement in 1986 that his time is equally divided between the 2 countries. So at best your edits weren't motivated by conflict of interest but pedantry and should be struck. Adelt1963 (talk) 10:49, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

You are welcome to that view but 'what about' is never a consideration in a Wikipedia discussion. I presume it was you editing from the IP address before you registered. As you actually do have a COI interest i would advise you that any edits to the article you should suggest on the talk page rather than make directly yourself. --Cameron Scott (talk) 10:56, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The point is you have improperly edited this article and allowed pedantry to rule your decision. So it will have to be arbitrated. And no, you are right I am not familiar with the protocols of Wikipedia but you are so again it's an odd that someone who primarily edits comic articles should become so obsessed by my father's page? Adelt1963 (talk) 11:03, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also just to confirm you never edited this page before April 23? And have you ever edited the page of any other political personage or writer?Adelt1963 (talk) 11:10, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Also I made those changes to the page when you arbitrarily stripped my father of his British citizenship. Now I am presuming you are British by you using the term "bollocks" which implies that you stripped my father of his British citizenship out of malice and not scholarly concern.Adelt1963 (talk) 12:06, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

My apologies again for any insult caused by my lack of knowledge regarding Wikipedia etiquette. But there are several points that must be raised: 1) A General Election was called on April 18th. 2) the first edit you made on this page April 23 was to strip the subject of his British citizenship and make him a Canadian citizen.3) you are anonymous & therefore there is no way of determining your political affiliation during the election. So to any observer this would be viewed with suspicion. 4) As you have edited other political pages, you are aware of politics and therefore must have some interest in it and during an election that can be considered bias. This is not to say you are only that actions can lead to implications. So this must be arbitrated again and I am sure we would much prefer to be doing other things. Adelt1963 (talk) 13:15, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

You understand that wikipedia as a rule doesn't make people disclose their politician affiliation? Not that I'm required to disclose this information but I was a labour party member until about march 2017 (although never active in any sense) and then left over Brexit and am now a Liberal Democrat registered member. I take it your assumption is that I'm a tory? --Cameron Scott (talk) 13:34, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

And rightly so. But in this instance it is relevant. And I think you have now confirmed to me that whether consciously or unconsciously that your edits might have been motivated by political bias considering your first edit was to strip the subject of their British citizenship and in other chat assert (He's been candida longer than he's british) - during a General Election Adelt1963 (talk) 13:47, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
