Hello, I'm MrOllie. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Hi MrOllie. Thanks for letting me know.
Could you please point out which parts were coming across as promotional, if possible? It would be greatly appreciated.
I am not aiming to post promotional content, but rather update the factual information associated with Ekelund’s page. So, if rewording / altering the information so that it doesn’t come across as promotional is necessary, I would be happy to do so.
Additionally, it appears that Ekelund’s picture has been removed too (although I’m not sure if this is just because I am viewing the page on mobile - I am unable to access my computer at this point in time). Could you please clarify if this is a mistake, or intentional, and if so, how this is classified as “promotional,” as mentioned previously?
Thanks,
Adam. Adeuchar (talk) 19:34, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Could you please point out which parts were coming across as promotional, if possible? Everything you added, from top to bottom. Are you associated with the article subject or one of his companies some how? MrOllie (talk) 19:44, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi MrOllie. Sorry for the late response.
I think I am able to see what you are saying. I will reword the information to sound less promotional, if that's alright. I'd also like to include the infobox I had initially if possible.
Yes, I am associated with Ekelund, but not directly (i.e., I do not work for one of his companies). Unfortunately, I'm not able to disclose how exactly my work relates to him, as I have signed an NDA. However, I can assure you that we are not trying to make this article promotional, but rather update the information to be more recent & thorough.
With regards to re-adding the infobox (specifically the "awards" section), would it be sufficient to just include the reference, or would it need to be mentioned in the article as well? Adeuchar (talk) 10:46, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Since you have a conflict of interest (see WP:COI), you are required by Wikipedia's terms of use to disclose it. You should not be editing the article. MrOllie (talk) 13:35, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Understood, and it has now been disclosed to you.
All of my questions still remain, though.
I assume that you want users to have updated and unbiased information. However, if every minor update is seen to be promotional, that will never happen (for example, the infobox; all information is easily verifiable via the sources already used in the article, and there is no room for "promotional" language). Adeuchar (talk) 13:56, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not able to disclose how exactly my work relates to him, as I have signed an NDA. - That is not a disclosure. MrOllie (talk) 14:07, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I will confirm with my boss how much I am able to disclose, and get back to you. Adeuchar (talk) 14:32, 5 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
This is required by Wikipedia's terms of use, see WP:PAID. You should not be editing in the meantime. MrOllie (talk) 13:27, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
If you have signed agreements like an NDA that prevent you from abiding by our Terms of Use requirements, you won't be able to edit here. Please also read WP:BOSS and have your superiors read it too. 331dot (talk) 13:41, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
We don't necessarily need specific details, but if you are employed by your boss, that is paid editing. 331dot (talk) 13:43, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi 331dot. Thank you for the information. I have spoken to my boss to see how much information I am able to disclose, and will get back to you ASAP.
I will also update my profile in accordance with wikipedia's terms of use before making any new edits. Adeuchar (talk) 14:07, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Adeuchar, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Adeuchar|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 13:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Theroadislong. Understood. I have spoken to my boss to see how much information I am able to disclose, and will update accordingly as soon as they have gotten back to me.
I won't be making any further edits until this has been addressed.
Please excuse the previous few edits; I am only doing as instructed. I hope you understand. Adeuchar (talk) 14:05, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
As advised above you should read WP:BOSS. Theroadislong (talk) 14:10, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I understand that you have been put in a difficult position by your boss, which is unfortunate for you, but (I apologize for sounding cruel, I in no way intend to be) we aren't concerned with what you have been instructed to do, only with your actions. 331dot (talk) 16:29, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
A declaration of paid needs to be on your User page, and you are then limited to proposing article changes on the Talk page of the article, for a non-connected editor to implement or deny. Proposed changes must be specific (replace .... with ....). References for the new content must be included as part of the proposal. At the top of your proposal, put edit COI inside double curly brackets {{ }} as the request for review. It may take several weeks to be acted upon.
