Biographies

edit

Please don't apply Category:Biography or Category:Biographies to articles about individual people that you write; the category is meant for articles about biography as an artistic or historical genre, such as The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record or Biographical film. People go in the appropriate subcategories of the Category:People tree, not in the biography category. Bearcat 03:17, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of Hank Skinner

edit

I have nominated Hank Skinner, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hank Skinner. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Morbidthoughts (talk) 00:20, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hank Skinner

edit

Since we are on different sides of the guilt/innocence/capital punishment debate I may be off my square in telling you this, but if the article doesn't get deleted (and gets restored) you might look for some information regarding the prosecutor. I think I read late last year or early this year that he either pleaded guilty or was found guilty of some kind of a drug offense that took place several years after the Skinner trial. grifterlake (talk) 04:36, 19 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, now I don't find the document, at least I had found a document where this prosecutor, John Mann, used the verdict of Skinner as a re-election argument. But we should check if he was also involved in crimes. why do you write that we are on different sides of the debate? We always are, in any complex debate. This is not a case of anti-death penalty activism, people who support DP are not supporting it when there is sufficient doubts about the guilt of an accused. Hank Skinner

edit

I'll work with you to try and maintain balance here but Hank's self-sourced propaganda website shouldn't be thought of as a reliable source. We can incorporate his claims into this webpage but let's try not to turn the page into a propaganda piece. Let's try to present all sides and let readers make up their own minds and find their own information. OK? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JoeGuru (talkcontribs) 14:16, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re Hank Skinner Article

edit

I'll agree to the self-published site if you'll help work the hankskinner.com site in. It can be under a "dissent" section but it poses legitimate questions. If Skinner believes it violates copyright, then Skinner should sue the site and shut it down. It is not libelous in ANY way because Skinner is (1) a public figure and (2) has been convicted of the crime for which he has been sentenced to death.

Let's work to solve this.

WRT testing any and all DNA at any time: I agree that all the DNA in this case should be tested--if for nothing else, to put a major public-relations issue to rest.

I do not agree that prisoners have a right to have all DNA tested at any time they want. In many cases, historically, it has been used as an expensive delay tactic when the prisoner knew he was guilty. They raise these issues at the last minute in hopes of getting an extra year thrown into the mix. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JoeGuru (talkcontribs) 14:55, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Defense Site

edit

This is *not* a "defense site". It is a self-sourced and highly biased website. Just because it contains links to *some* of the court filings does not make it a reliable source. As it stands, it appears to violate Wikipedia's guidelines regarding self-sourced information. It could probably go in a section somewhere assuming it was properly balanced. But it doesn't need to be an external link. Let's leave it up there, though, until we can agree on a more appropriate place for it.

As I say, a Wikipedia page shouldn't be a platform for spewing propaganda. That's what it has been. But I'm willing to work with you to fix it without throwing the page into dispute. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JoeGuru (talkcontribs) 15:41, 4 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Bruno Osimo

edit

The article Bruno Osimo has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not Notable. See Wikipedia:Notability. No prizes or awards. Also: No reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. I see what you are trying to do, but there is no assertion (and support) the added text is, "a significant new concept, theory or technique." If you can provide some independent support that it is, there may be a good chance of show it meets the criteria for notability. My best to you. ttonyb (talk) 04:05, 16 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gachala Emerald, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Washington (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:59, 6 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
