St. Peter's Episcopal Church

Your addition of a St. Peter's Episcopal Church (Niagara Falls, New York) to the St. Peter's Episcopal Church disambiguation page is probably a good contribution. But other editors might remove it, because there is not yet an article about the Niagara Falls church, and it may not be obvious to everyone that the Niagara Falls church is "wikipedia-notable". Do you have some sources about the church? I would be glad to help start an article about it. I'll watch for any reply here, but if I don't get back to you, put a note at my Talk page.

Actually, this source online seems enough to make it clear to me that the church is worthy of a wikipedia article. Including that it was designed by Henry Dudley, a notable architect. Thanks for bringing this up. If you don't mind, I could start an article on it, but if you'd like to start it yourself I would defer to you.  :) --doncram 23:46, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your message(s). I added it because it occurs in the article Peter A. Porter (colonel), which I happened to pick up only because I was looking at dab links. Is there a policy on how to determine the notability of an American church? (it is easier for English churches, as every parish church seems to be notable). Oh, good, you replied. I just added mention of the church to the Henry Dudley architect article, and then added a supporting bluelink at St. Peter's Episcopal Church disambiguation page. With that, the disambiguation page entry seems safe; no one should delete it, so at least that is stable.

That is per disambiguation rules, at MOS:DABRL, that any entry which is a redlink, must have a supporting bluelink to an article where the same redlink appears in context that establishes its importance / its potential for an article. --doncram 03:28, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

About starting the article, there is general understanding about historic churches in the U.S., that if they are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, then they are notable (because there will be a lot of documentation available). This one is not NRHP-listed though. So, the general notability standards for wikipedia apply: basically whether there exists adequate sources/documentation about a topic. The source linked above seems adequate to me, on its own, and I expect there would be other sources. So go ahead and start it if you like, or it can be left as it is now. Inserted a bit above, and ah, nice job with the article! This might be your first article started? Good to break that barrier, if so. I added a bit; lucky to find a pic on Commons of it already. Poor Peter Porter, having led a charge at Cold Harbor. :(. Nice touch for that article, to have a link to the church in Niagara Falls, providing a tangible link from now to then.
