Your contribution to 'List of wars and anthropogenic disasters by death toll'

edit

Hi Aerolitz, I just deleted your contribution to List of wars and anthropogenic disasters by death toll pertaining to the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I wanted to explain, as it was apparent that you put some thought into writing the description. The criteria for inclusion in the list of genocides is that reliable sources need to have described the event as a genocide. If it fails that, it cannot be included. If you can provide reliable sources that describe the event as a genocide, please feel free to add it back in. I'm not sure you would succeed in this endeavor, though; at best you might find the bombings described as a democide, or a crime against humanity, in that it involved an excessive loss of civilian life. But if that were the criteria, the firebombings of WWII would also probably have to be included. In any case, both events should already be covered under the death toll for WWII. Saif al-Islam Gaddafi

Hey! I appreciate the additions you have made regarding Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, but because he wasn't captured during the battle itself, the POW tag doesn't really apply for that page! Thanks! Jeancey (talk) 20:42, 19 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hello!

My name is Victor and I work with the Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organization that supports Wikipedia. We're chronicling the inspiring stories from the Wikipedia community around the world, including those from readers, editors, and donors. Stories are absolutely essential for any non-profit to persuade new people to support the cause, and we know the vast network of people who use Wikipedia have so much to share. It's important to convey the incredible diversity of people who've come to rely upon Wikipedia every day.

I'd really like the opportunity to interview you to tell your story, with the possibility of using it in our materials, on our community websites, or as part of this year’s fundraiser to encourage others to support Wikipedia.

I will be in São Paolo from the 1st - 2nd of March 2012, and I'll be attending:

I'm hoping you will elaborate on your story with me. I apologize for any mis-translation in this message (perhaps it might inspire a laugh?) I am using Google-translate at the moment, but plan to have translators available when we are in Brazil.

Please let me know if you're inclined to take part in the Wikipedia Stories Project!

Thank you,

Victor Grigas

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Secular state. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 22:24, 9 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Moneytrees Thanks for the information. I didn't create the reference as I only moved it from a previous contribution already in that page (check my contribution on Secular state at 15:11, 9 August 2020‎). It is always good for me to understand how I should reference any source of information, as I have been a long time away from the Wikiworld. Thanks again. Aerolitz 10 August 2020 (UTC)
