Hello! Thanks for your edits on the German occupation of Belgium during World War II and I hope there are no hard feelings about my revert from earlier. I just wondered if, seeing as you have an interest in the subject, whether you might possibly be willing to do the article's "Good Article" review? It's the last one I need before I can submit Belgium in World War II as a good topic! Anyway, let me know! Brigade Piron (talk) 11:06, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to St. Louis Cathedral, Fort-de-France may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • is located in the downtown area of the capital city of the French [[ at the intersection of rue Victor Schoelcher and rue Blénac.

Thanks for fluorine work, but DU concerns

Hello Alberto:

Thanks for the ref fixes and work on "Fluorine". I am changing (moving) some content about DU. I am concerned about too much of a segue on DU as the article is about fluorine. Further comments in talk. (I hope we don't have some stupid Wiki version control situation. I can tell you are a smart fellow and I also hope you see my intense work that has gone into balancing, pruning, etc. Fluorine.)

Packed in pictures

It seems to work well on that article of Johnbod's which is featured. The pictures are of suitable proportions. I just tried it out on Thematic development of Italian Renaissance painting and it's not going to work there as well as the present mode.

It does simplify putting pics together. On the other hand, it means that the images are jammed up without room to breathe. So it is very important that they are selected to go together, or they won't work well.

I'll try it out on some of the other articles I've written, and I'll keep it in mind when laying out others.

re Renaissance painting, the format isn't too bad with pics that are all the same shape. When you apply it to pictures of mixed shapes the vertical pics come out occupying very much less space than the horizontal pics, regardless of their actual size. The advantage with the thumbnail gallery is that you have some control over the sizes.

This arrangement gives a completely false idea of size as the Bellini is considerably wider than the Bartolomeo di Giovanni. It looks as if Bartolomeo's work is a large mural, rather than a painting less than half a metre tall and 1.5 metres wide. It is a significant picture, in terms of introducing the subject but the Bellini is more important in every way.

I was looking at an article the other day, where a photographer had put up a large number of magnificent photos, all the same format that could be included, but are not. This is the sort of situation for which this application is more appropriate than for a gallery of artworks that are of different shapes and sizes.Amandajm (talk) 08:42, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

You are totally right when the situation comes to such an extreme difference in aspect ratio. Regarding the false size impression, I will cite Magritte "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" ;-D --Alberto Fernández Fernández (talk) 11:07, 27 October 2013 (UTC)
How do I add a heading to that format? It would be useful here, where the photos have all been carefully chosen for size and scale (and cropped accordingly when necessary), but I need sub-headings that are centred above the pics. Romanesque architecture Amandajm (talk) 01:42, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
You need to use the parameter "caption". If perrow= is omitted, the width is fluid: one row comprises as many images as will fit across the available width. I edited the page you mentioned as an example. Alberto Fernández Fernández (talk) 09:09, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! That will work well for that article. I'll do it tomorrow as it is after midnight in the Land of Oz. Amandajm (talk) 14:00, 29 October 2013 (UTC)
