About your disclosure and future editing

edit

Hi Afrohne, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. The addition of Ronald Himes to the encyclopedia was definitely merited, and I was very interested to find out more about him and his work. (I am Swedish, and sadly ignorant about many aspects of African American culture.)

You have disclosed a paid conflict of interest on your user page. That's excellent, but could you please also add the article(s) you contribute to as part of your employment? I am assuming that the article about Ronald Himes is one of these, because he founded the company, and I added a template on your behalf to Talk:Ronald Himes, but I notice that the disclosure on your user page doesn't mention the article. Since the WMF terms of use require that to be part of the disclosure, please do this as well. To add the article to the disclosure template, simply add a vertical bar | followed by the string article=Ronald Himes , within the curly brackets. More information about parameters and uses of the "Paid" user page template on this page – it may come in useful if you are tasked to create other drafts or do any other edits on the SLBRTC's behalf.

As a general principle, you should avoid editing articles directly when you have a paid conflict of interest. Minor tweaks to the text that don't add (or remove) anything substantial tend to be OK, and reverting blatant vandalism is also acceptable, but for more substantial edits, there is an edit request "wizard" which places an edit request template on the talk page of the article in question. You can also post directly to the article talk page (such as Talk:Ronald Himes), but the advantage of placing an edit request template is that the page will be flagged for the attention of other editors so your request will be seen much quicker!

Hopefully you will come to enjoy Wikipedia editing, so that you will want to keep contributing as a volunteer! I will add a welcome template with some useful links below this message. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 14:24, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the vast amount of help with this. I am a part time employee of the company and was asked to do this as part of my work. I wanted to be sure that I was fully transparent. I will make sure to get that disclosure added. Thanks for the direction to the wizard. I thought I would have more time to edit before approval. I will submit additional information there.
I plan to do a page about the company next. Thank you again for all of the direction and guidance. I look forward to adding more information about the arts and culture of my area. Afrohne (talk) 15:55, 12 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
